So you have 0 actual arguments as to how this is problematic, or the "high standard" that you set to world leaders was violated. Got it.

Got it. Yeah, leaders who are in charge of saving lives and keeping warzone countries from being blown to bits should NOT pose for high fashion magazines with their wives while their own citizens struggle. The proceeds of this issue of Vogue better be donated to citizens of Ukraine.
ZIVERT Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Zelenskyy poses for high quality photos everyday for his Instagram, y’all are really serving hysterics over the fact that it’s Vogue

Specter Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Also. Zelensky has absolutely stood by his people - he never fled the country (this may sound like a low bar, but there are plenty of examples of this being the norm) and on the contrary he was posting live updates from ground zero in Kyiv, when that convoy was en route. He's survived multiple assassination attempts, and has managed to network very aggressively to help build ties for Ukraine in ways that weren't as meaningful before. I'm not defending the optics of this at all, but to frame it as him doing something that uniquely betrays his people is foolish. Some people on the last page literally posting Russian propaganda...

It glamorizes war — and thereby trivializes it. No one needs that both inside and outside the country. It's immoral, its disrespectful. It's the same reason why funerals are solemn and don't allow you to show your **** and ass during the procession of the casket. What's going on out there is not your ATRL type "slayage" but real butchery of real human beings with real blades and bullets. It's evil enough that we allow that to happen — we don't need to add salt into it and treat it as banal entertainment. And the magazine sells that thing, it's not free — in other words it makes money off of war. That is exploitative conduct.
truthteller Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 this is messy of them... get your priority right

Our countries are spending billions solely because it's in our best interest not to let Putin win this war. And, since we can't afford a WW3, sending weapons to Ukraine is the only way. There are NO benefactors in geopolitics, just cold business (whether it's power, money or mere international prestige). Just like there's not a single soul in this thread who's actually concerned for the people of Ukraine, only a bunch virtue signalling sheep.

The Next Day Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 A bit too glossy, but I don't see the issue. It's propaganda, Russia is doing that 24/7, so it's only fair Ukraine does the same.
Communion Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 31 minutes ago, Oceania said: NA and Europe arent doing any charity. Our countries are spending billions solely because it's in our best interest Clearly this is an active discussion because the ravenous inflation that has severely lowered people's quality of life makes people disagree. The American people have moved on and largely soured on the impact of this conflict, in large part due to Democrats' refusal to be as open and loose with their purse for domestic policy as they have been for foreign policy. If the idea is that a Vogue cover will somehow run opposite to concerns about the economy, and change American public opinion, then it's clear that those in charge of the Ukranian government have no idea about how politics works at all.
Bang Up Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 y'all are so weird. zelensky has been leading his country this entire time and has been able to hold off russia and y'all are angry he took a couple of hours to pose for some photos? if anything, be mad at vogue for thinking this was appropriate. it makes sense for zelensky and his wife to do this as any attention for them and their country is good attention.

Bosque Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 The story is online btw if anyone cares to actually read it instead of clutching their pearls and waxing poetic about how this is totally inappropriate or "glamorizes" the war Portrait of Bravery: Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska | Vogue
shookspeare Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 the braindead katy stan in here implying that Ukrainian men have no interest in defending their home, language, culture, etc. from Russian chauvinism that has lasted for centuries, most egregiously when Stalin starved millions in Ukraine in the 1930s and when Ukrainians were literally denied the ability to use their own language
