Are you? You've been very vocally anti-Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Maybe you want to go live in Chechnya?

Stop trying to excuse this photoshoot with the dumbest reason. It’s insensitive and disrespectful not only to ukranians but to the entire world. Maybe try to deflect less next time you want to come for someone

Maybe you missed the Time cover story from April?

Where was all the backlash then? This photo was also taken in Kyiv, where he was commanding the army and fighting for Ukraine's survival. Do you think it's suddenly inappropriate for him to keep Ukraine in the media around the world? April 19th was less than two months into the war. Now we are 6 months into the war, and as this thread shows, people are suddenly hostile at the thought of helping Ukraine. No matter your opinion of Zelenskyy, Russia is still killing people every single day. He is doing a damn good job to make sure the world doesn't forget it.

Not you comparing a lovey-dovey, war themed photo shoot in VOGUE (a fashion magazine) to TIME magazine. This wasn’t it and you know it. Please go sit.

You just know they're gonna use this in Russia to justify the war :deadbanana4:

I am Ukrainian, not this gaslighting :deadbanana2:

Y'all are deflecting a photoshoot centered around the First Lady of Ukraine - a woman who is not holding an elected political office - to be about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy being thirsty for fame. I remember that you specifically have had an agenda since this war started, of trying to frame Zelenskyy as some nazi, so trying to pull an "insensitive and disrespectful to Ukrainians" is bullsh*t. You haven't had people that you know personally die or lose their homes in this war, so don't try to lecture me on what's right and wrong.

Embarrassing. Who told them this was a good idea? This isn't 1998 anymore, and you're not Brangelina. Gross.

I can't believe we live in a world where ATRL users will trash actual people living through this war for raising awareness through a photoshoot in Ukraine, but also praised Lady Gaga for posting a selfie smiling for Ukrainian victims while at the Oscars. We truly live in a simulation :toofunny2: it's not even worth responding in this thread anymore, I'll stick to the megathread with the three other people on this website who actually care about the war.

Nope. The US is sending them tens of BILLIONS of dollars while paying the American people absolute dust. The American people have a right to be annoyed at the corruption

Actual examples of antisemitism would be these ?

This is very distasteful and disgusting :biblio:

I guess it really has been billionaire oligarchs who are the secret force behind his presidency because this move shows literally zero political expertise and an understanding of optics. File this nonsense next to his government attacking people like the man very likely to be the future president of Brazil recently.

This is AWFUL. Awful, awful, awful. Exploitation  at its finest. I STAND with the Ukranian people, but this is just gross.

Look, I think people are allowed to express discomfort at what immediately reads as a bizarre juxtaposition - a Vogue photoshoot in the time of war. The optics of this are very... Not good, and I think I defended him when he appeared at the Oscars (? Or Grammys?) as well.

However I believe the discourse around this has veered off the rails, and in many ways has found itself in the "no angel" territory as well, and no matter what you believe about Zelensky's character, nothing should justify the invasion.

I don't believe people pointing out the weirdness of this are inherently carrying water for Russia, but I think there needs to be grace for that perspective because it is true that when you actively challenge the optics in a "do you know WHO he truly is?" (see that member posting pics of him and his wife posing next to money :skull:) you create an opening for breeding indifference and malice, at worst, towards Zelensky - who then becomes a synecdoche for all of Ukraine. It's unfortunate.

Such a bad taste and a joke, this is beyond disgusting. Makes him lose credibility, like what on earth is this? :rip:

The fact that there's a whole group of people behind this kind of photoshoots and not a single one of them thought this was a bad idea :deadbanana4:

This is SUCH bad optics that it almost makes me wonder if it's intentional to start damaging Zelensky's image outside of Ukraine and to change the narrative about how much the West should be sending in money and arms and what sanctions to impose on Russia. Perhaps Washington has finally realized that the economic impact is too much and actually threatens their stability and this is part 1 of disentangling themselves from Ukraine. Step #1: remove positive sentiment from the Ukrainian president. What will step #2 be? Like, it feels like self-sabotage. There is no way they actually thought the public would react well to that image of his wife giving high fashion among soldiers.

How come everyone with that weird globe emoji in their name is always 1) super aggressive re: Ukraine and 2) largely spends their time espousing misogynoir in making up fake news about elected black women officials?

I also see people suggest something nefarious about that globe emoji too. :biblio:

It is grossly anti-semitic to compare Hitler, who massacred 6 million Jews, to this invasion of Ukraine where less than 6,000 civilians have died. And totally nonsensical. I'm not sure what Russian propaganda you're referring to. Was I supposed to get a cheque in the mail? Or is that the only thing you know how to say to someone that has independent thinking and doesn't parrot whatever the TV says? I should not be surprised considering you have Katy Perry, a children's artist, in your avatar....

Funny that you're pretending to have the moral high ground while supporting genocide :deadbanana2: Again, just like Hitler (or any other genocidal maniac) supporters back in the day.

Again, not surprising that you're treating this as a stan war  typical edgelord. I mean it is disgusting but after what you've posted in this thread I doubt you have any humanity left in you to care.

You need a psychiatrist, no offence. Who the hell is supporting genocide? What genocide?

Yeah this is something Tyra Banks would do to the contestants of ANTM :biblio:

What makes he think that choosing Vogue out of all publications to spread awareness about the war is a good idea ffs?!

Ever since he appeared on the Grammys this move shouldn't come as a shock...

Absolutely tasteless and disgusting and you know what’s more disgusting is the sudden support from the entire world for a white country, when this same world has been pretending not to see what’s happening in certain places in the world where they’ve been living like this not for a couple of months, but for over half a century. I mean I’m glad they’re getting support, but the picking and choosing is appalling to say the least...
