A introspective and spiritual album that marked a shift on the sound that the singer had used to by the public and the GP… experimental, ambitious, a personal and artistic growth and also a commercial and critical success which also kind of saved the career of the singer after some polemic stuff (deserved or undeserved)

Beyoncé is already above that since she has selftitled and lemonade

Selftitled and Lemonade, COMBINED, sold less than half of what Ray of Light did.

And Beyoncé´s career was never in danger anyway, so..

OT: Nobody can.

A pop girl who can team with a pioneer producer, modernize her sound, Britney doesn't care, Katy is not versatil enough, bayonce is all over the place with her writing camps. maybe Gaga when she turns 40, I guess she tried with cromatica but it was a dated mess, but she is the closest.,

it was supposed to be Katy if Smile was an album full of Daisies and What Makes a Woman

Taylor's folklore kinda fits the bill. Released 15 years into her career, universally acclaimed and a decisive turning point sonically / aesthetically.

Actually the only one from this list I could see going that route is Katy :priceless:

Are you really comparing album 90s sales to 2010s :deadbanana4:

And after 4 Bey did risk loosing relevance and it was a commercial underperformance which she later doubled. ST was kind of her awakening era but in her own way. She discovered the producer BOOTS, went dark, more experimental and became way more political.

Her single choices however paints a less revolutionary picture but the project is still her reinvention. And if she promoted it with the below, it'd clear

Its a close example but not sonically/thematically/visually distinct as ROL

gaga and taylor already have i guess but joanne was infinitely less successful and folklore was infinitely less experimental.

Rihanna is realistically the only one with enough cultural significance, public interest and versality/uniqueness to her to have a ROL type era. I just don't see it for the other girls (with exception for the new girls its too early to tell)

Beyonce kinda already had her moment with ST though (in her own way)

Britney could easily pull it off with the right direction and making a whole new sound she likes.

A new spiritual album after all the personal **** she went through would be perfect and she would have a lot of public interest with the right team.

But then again I doubt she wants that kind of attention again.

Other than her Rihanna can, and Beyonce already did.

Taylor had a little with Folklore but I think in her late 30s or early 40s she will go deeper.

I see Britney, Billie and Ariana (if she goes in the right direction) doing it

Because ROL came out when Bill Clinton was in the office. Not comparable.

And Renaissance will be better than ROL, so yeah

I only see Bey or Taylor doing something along those lines since those are the only ambitious girls, the others don't even try anymore.

Everyone naming all the wrong choices:rip:...clearly do not understand what Ray of light represented so there's no surprise.

AFFFFFF

Technically any of them could if they were set up with the right producers and writers. Now if you were to ask who would make their own ROL themselves then pretty much only Gaga . Taylor couldn’t take the risks and lacks the creativity for that. Could you imagine Taylor singing some ethnic, foreign language song :lmao: seriously?! She doesn’t even have a Spanish song which pretty much 90% of the girls in the industry have. Beyonce came close with ST but still lacked the whole use of live instruments which ROL sports a lot of and is one of the more distinct features of it

Here the thing, Ray of Light is an album mainly about being a mother, maturing and finding spirituality. It is also an album about finding meaning in her life. Despite all the shortcomings, Katy could be a candicate for a type of Ray of Light as she seems to be keen on reconnecting to spirituality. Rihanna is the only other candidate as like Katy, she is a recent mother and might want an album dedicated to her recent borned child and who knows becoming a parent may have changed her priorities away from  pop sensibilities to a more  introspective  direction.
