Really ? Britney and Elton are not appealing to young people nowadays and are not artists who usually do great with streaming numbers (this is literally Britney’s first release during the streaming era).

 

I don’t know how many streams is considered good for a debut but I can’t imagine HMC debuting that high. We’ll see though, hopefully I am wrong.

The audio did around 2M in its first 24 hours on YT, which is pretty low.

Not at all. I genuinely wasn't expecting it to chart on Apple Music, let alone in the Top 50 like it is right now. It is doing great.

the vocal production on this is a bit odd (as was the production in the demo) but i like the song nonetheless, been bopping to it since yesterday morning so i’m excited about it (and britney’s first release in such a long time) doing so well!

And the people in here fighting about Britney vs. Dua need to give it a rest. She debuted nearly two decades after Britney, and she’s just coming off of the massive Future Nostalgia era. I’m hopeful that Hold Me Closer will do well on the charts, but I highly doubt it will smash the same way Cold Heart did.

I don't think it'll reach 3 million streams. At the end of the day, it's Elton John & Britney Spears in 2022. And it's not on TTH either. But we'll see!
