Stan one of Gen Z's best performers

Wrong. The entire GP loves Dua, even straight guys adore her. She is THE hitmaker of the 2020s already and there is no denying that. She's just as much as a supreme as Olivia, Billie and Doja :gayalipacat4:But I love the attention for her. Keep it up. I love seeing her be discussed!

I think its interesting that both u and the person u quoted are both over and underselling Dua Lipa.

imo Dua DEFINITELY is one of the new big popgirls for sure, but she's far from a supreme, hell I don't even think Doja, Billie or Olivia are in that Supreme tier yet.

The only one I see from their generation in that Supreme bracket is Ariana and even then by definition Ariana is closer to Gaga and Katy than the rest. Ariana has the ability to launch a 200k+ FW album and a lead #1 debut globally for multiple eras, that to me is Supreme status for popgirls tbh.

Its not a dig at Dua to say she's not a supreme because among the new popgirls she has the BIGGEST smashes, One Kiss, DSN and Levitating >>> but saying shes universally loved by the public is a farce. If shes universally loved shed have a more instantaneous presence on the charts instead of her slow burn style. She's a Katy with better performance skills but does not possess the instant hitmaking prowess Katy had during her peak.

What makes Dua imo not a supreme is the fact that she doesnt have the star power to launch a hit to the top right away, Billie and Olivia have all done it. It takes Dua so much time, effort and promo to get a big hit and thats proof that shes still far from having an established base big enough to put her in that Supreme tier.

----

With the other girls, Olivia has a clearly big fanbase but we'll see where she'll be next eras, she could be another Taylor or she could be a Nelly Furtado level misfire.

Doja's brand will backfire on her face trust me. She's built her whole brand and audience perception from being quirky and relatable but thats such a fickle rope to dangle yourself in. One wrong take or tweet and that same base will be the same ppl putting you on a stake. See: Noah Schnapp incident + Paraguay. Another thing I want to talk about is how shes in the same vein as Dua with the whole small fanbase issue. She doesnt have a strong base, her listeners are almost always hiphop fans or Dua/Ariana/Taylor/Gaga/Bey/Rih fans, she has no core loyal fanbase and if the hits stop coming... Well ..

With Billie I think she'll be here for years to come but her commercial force days will be over. A Gen Z Lana if you will, I dont doubt she'll have an occasional Top 10 and debut with 250k but the IFPI Top 10 numbers I doubt will return.

Ariana is in her own category tbh. I don't place her with the 2008 girls but I don't place her with these girls either. And I don't think Dua taking a long time to reach her peaks is a bad thing. It shows she ain't about quick little peaks and all about longevity :gayalipacat4:DL3 will be debuting at No.1 I fear!

Of all of these girls, I enjoy Billie's music the most. I think she'll keep making interesting and quality music for a long time, even if it's not always commercially successful. I think she'll follow some hybrid of the Avril/Lana paths.

Dua makes really fun and catchy bops, but I'm not sure what's going to happen to her when she gets aged out of pop radio (or doesn't change with the times), cause she doesn't really have much (at least in the US) beyond that.

I've never really been drawn to Olivia's music, cause it's just a bit too juvenile for my tastes, but I think we need at least one more album from her to see how her career might turn out. I don't think she'll be around forever, but I think she has a few more successful eras left in her.

Doja is a very interesting character to me. I don't love most of her music, but she has some fun and catchy songs that I can appreciate from time to time. I think she's the best performer of the girls on the list, but I also think she's the least invested in her career. Her personality is also rather abrasive, and I could easily see her phoning in the next record, being a ***** all over social media, and getting dumped by the public.

Then why does she have such a succesful tour in the US? :gayalipacat4:

i think you have to remember tho that the US isn't her home market like the others. in the UK her songs always debut high- the first 3 FN singles all debuted within the top 10. but i agree this era finally established her as a household name

Dua, Billie and Tate McTalent are the future. Glad I'm able to enjoy new music from young & fresh acts unlike the boomers here. :clap3:

I like all these new girls, I may no stan them but their music gets heavy rotation from me.

Billie is the best out of them, she’s been the most polished since day 1. She was always on top of everything, great music, great performances, fashion, personality, star quality.

Dua’s FN is an amazing pop album but she’s missing something, not quite sure what it is.

Olivia had a nice album but is severely lacking in every other department.

Doja has the personality and is a strong performer, but musically she’s STILL all over the place. She’s been making music for like 8 years, at this point it’s inexcusable.

The old girls wish they had a timeless classic like this.

Doja, Billie, and Dua are in my Top 10 most played artists ever on Spotify. Olivia is slowly reaching, cause SOUR is my most played album of the year thus far.

The newer generation of pop girls are churning out rather good material, albeit I find Dua’s music more faceless than the other 3 mentioned.

However, I do feel that their star power is not as mesmerising as the Gaga/Katy at their prime, but that doesn’t mean the material is worse.

I’m rooting for Billie and Olivia, the Interscope gworls. :gaycat4:

Like someone over here said previously, registrations being closed majority of the time is the reason we don't have more young members. It would make sense to have these registration seasons during the prime of ATRL but now is so absurd. :rip:

On topic:

I love all of them but Billie Eilish is the best out of all four.

The quality of her music is top-notch, has had the greatest peak amongst all of the four pop girls (As a Gen Z who has vividly lived through each of them and scrutinized all of these eras), is the most critically-acclaimed, has had the most impact amongst them (obviously not to discredit Dua's major influence in revitalizing disco/dance-pop or Olivia bringing 90s-Y2K pop-rock back in full force) and she has built the a very and loyal fanbase in a few years.

Here are some other Gen Z stars ATRL needs to be talking more of :gaycat2:

(Her music is so good but it's always so disappointing when the bops are so short :clownny:)

now why on earth is a TINASHE stan complaining about artists not fitting into a box genre wise? Isn't that like the exact opposite of what your fave promotes?

Oh no no I meant in terms of consistency, not genre. She has some absolute gems in her discog but a lot of questionable choices as well.

now when you put them all together, they have in common 'no personality', i think doja cat is only one 'interesting' personality wise, but you either like her music or you dont.
