Rotunda Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 This was the correct outcome. The show spends seasons highlighting how the kids all want to take the easy route and become CEOs overnight. Shiv thinks people will magically be okay with a former Democratic political consultant running a far-right news organization. Roman literally has to be sent to work as a character in an amusement park because he has no real skills at the start of the show. Kendall weaves in and out of sobriety and in and out of wanting to destroy the company and thinks he has a birthright. In this season alone they waver between starting their own venture, buying Pierce, and heading up ATN. As their dad said, they are unserious people. Tom is the only family member we actually see getting real work done consistently across the four seasons. 10
worldwide angel Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 the best show ever that finale was impeccable JESSE ARMSTRONG THE MAN YOU ARE
GotMyBlueprint Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Tom winning while Shiv lost, poor PUTA, love to see it, poor Kendad tho 1
Kylizzle Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 The footage of Logan with Connor and the old guard is so haunting. Outside of the perspective of the siblings there was a whole other world we never got to see... 2
Rotunda Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Also so many people on social media are misinterpreting that convo about Kendall’s kids. For some reason people think Roman was implying that Rava had an affair, when all he’s saying is that Kendall was incapable of having biological children so they had to adopt and use artificial insemination. When we think of the historical idea of “successions” this reveal then hints to a much simpler argument for why Logan doesn’t take the kids seriously. Business sense aside, Shiv is a woman, Ken is impotent, and Roman is emasculated. None of them are the red blooded men he wants. 2

I was a little surprised about Iverson not being his biological child, but now it all makes sense why Logan was willing to smack him and feed him possible poisoned food 1
TROPICUM Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Incredible ending and while it’s not satisfying in any way or form it is the correct one. None of the children deserved it, and they all showed why this episode. Roman is too unreliable, Shiv is too inexperienced to even know if someone is playing her and Kendall is a ticking timebomb of insanity. As sad as it is, Tom knew the game and how to work it. And Shiv being the last (as her name means) knife to cut Kendall was SO good. She saw how horrible of a CEO he would be when he put his feet on the desk completely making a fool of himself. And in a way, she set him free of a future he may destroy by having that type of power. Shiv’s ending is the most tragic one, by far. She ended just like her mother. A woman with failed dreams unhappily tied to the tyrant of a billion dollar corporation. And pregnant with his only child. It’s so poetic but as a Little Shivster it hurt to watch Roman is free from the company and his siblings, although he will always be lost without his father. 10/10 tbh 4
Park Jinyoung Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Another show where the female lead becomes the most hated character. The thinkpieces that are being written… The incoming low-vibrational discourse... Many incels were born today I fear 2

fridayteenage Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 looks like connor's wedding will remain the season's 1 universally beloved ep, following s2 and s3 finales.

They try to be empowering girlbosses but in the end ultimately fold under corrupt men continuing the old system because that’s what aligns most with their interests. 2 1

I think it aligned to her interests to a certain point, because she obviously never, ever wanted to be simple "the wife" of the CEO. She’d rather be the sister. That’s why she came to terms with Kendall winning, and if she truly only saw her interests she STILL would’ve voted no even if she saw how deranged Ken was because it meant a CEO opportunity may arise soon. I truly think she had a moment of lucidity in the end. I feel like she finally saw what Logan saw, in all of them, and decided to sacrifice her own good so her siblings could finally be free from the power loop, even if it meant her becoming what she dreaded the most. Thats why seeing the men on twitter and reddit making their sexist thinkpieces saying she was the villain, and she was the "most evil sibling" is pure bull****. If anything, she’s the one that broke the cycle and saved everyone from a worse ending, including the company itself 4
Butters Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) as much as I wanted to see the kids remain united and ken finally get what he’s been waiting for the entire show this ending makes the most sense. I half expected one of the shots from the photo op in the conference room to capture Ken plunging down the building past the window Edited May 29, 2023 by Butters
Sombre Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Tom sold his wife to Lukas for the CEO position and Shiv sold her kid's uncles for the closest proximity to the CEO. I'd wish her a miserable life but she already has one so... have fun? 1
D/X Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) Absolutely amazing. While I wanted an extra season and I know they are absolutely capable of doing one more while extending the plot, I think in the end it was the right decision to end the series at its highest peak. My boy Kendall consistently suffering, crying, screaming and being suicidal in every single finale lmao. All the cast delivered top-notch performances, but Jeremy Strong took things to another level. Like, truly insane. The beach and kitchen scenes + the video of Logan with the old guard to me felt like the way both cast and crew said goodbye to the series, and literally some of the very few scenes in the entire series where the characters genuinely share a happy moment, even if brief, without them being conniving. Not gonna lie, I wanted a death here lmao but it was amazing. S1 Finale > 403 > S4 Finale > S3 Finale > S1 > S4 > S2 Finale > S2 >> S3 Edited May 29, 2023 by D/X
Komet Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Bleh, this was pretty underwhelming and unsatisfying. It didn't feel like the series finale at all. Shiv stays the biggest loser 2 1
Blade Runner Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 What a show and what an ending. One of the greatest finales ever. Money corrupts the soul and you can't escape the cycle. Speechless.
Blade Runner Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 A movie set 10 years after all of this happened would be SICK. Make it happen, HBO. 1

boys Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 The mental gymnastics to paint Shiv as the most evil sister and the biggest loser after that finale is a kii. I love how they all forget why she was working with Mattson in the first place because her siblings went behind her back and tried icing her out. 3
Blade Runner Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) https://twitter.com/MarkHarrisNYC/status/1663060052503154689 "It's the end of The Graduate AND the end of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Somewhere Mike Nichols is smiling." What a magnificent, epic final shot for her. Siobhan was always doomed, and this ending couldn't be more fitting. She was also a hero by voting "yes". I just loved it so much. Wicked stuff. Edited May 29, 2023 by Blade Runner
Riot Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 This was the most obvious ending but in some way we didn't see it coming because the siblings were the main characters and we wanted them to win. Logan never wanted any of them to become CEO, that's why he was ready to sell. It is also interesting how Connor seemed to have the most "normal" father-son relationship because he stayed out of the business.
Riverbank Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 That scene where Kendall was hugging Roman so tight it opened his stitches was when he realized that pain and fear was what was required to control and manipulate Roman... which is the same thing his father used to do. Damn that was so sinister Amazing finale 6
eclipsed Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) This was insane. I was afraid they would somehow screw it up but this was absolutely masterful. One of the best endings to a tv series ever. I'm so glad it was an hour and a half because I really felt like I got everything I needed. You got the idealistic vision of them working together happily and then in true Succession style everybody at each others throats showcasing the impeccable acting and writing. While it doesn't appear to be a happy ending, its the right one. I never wanted Kendall to be CEO even if from the beginning it felt like he was destined for it, he felt that way too. Him being CEO means he just turns into Logan, he should go be with his kids. He feels like his world has ended but thats just the reality of life, the pain will pass and he'll get other chances. This seems healthy for him in the long run. Roman I don't think he ever was cut out for it and honestly probably doesn't care as much. Shiv really is the only one that got a tragic ending but it was her choice to make and I think she views it as her winning which is what she wanted. 8 hours ago, TROPICUM said: I truly think she had a moment of lucidity in the end. It's so interesting to see other take on their motives. I like to think this was partially true but then there are people that will say it was just because she wanted to win.
