You don't need to reach to comparisons within Islam when America is a Christian nation, founded on Christianity, and in which its founding was a mass genocide of people on the basis that such was part of its religious purpose and manifest destiny, an inherently European and Christian barbarism.

It's so funny how people allegedly from countries and communities where Islam is this big central negative force in their life always lash out at progressives "for centering themselves"and "erasing the voices of people brave enough to leave Islam" and "ex-Muslims" yet this thread has been nothing but the same people doing just that re: abortion and the reality of America.

This conversation isn't about Islam. Nothing in America is about Islam. America in its foundation is a Christofascist theocracy and ex-Muslims or people who fashion themselves as "speaking to the truth on Islam" need to stop centering themselves in conversations about those who experience oppression within America's theocracy due to the rule of Christianity in the government.

"Well I grew up in a Muslim country and Islam is objectively worse than Christianity" is such a tone-deaf and egomanical comment to repeatedly try and insert into discussions of people fearing for their lives under Christianity. :rip:

Last time I checked the US was officially a SECULAR country.

I never talked about Christianity because that religion is IRRELEVANT in Western countries. Most people in Europe declare themselves irreligious or follow a very loose interpretation of Christianity. I know America is far behind in that aspect, but still law in America is based on philosophical principles, not on a ******* religious book.

This conversation is totally about Islam since the person who tweeted that out is being accused of being ISLAMOPHOBIC (btw its absolutely ridiculous how Islam is the only religion with that terminology lmao)

You are basically telling us to ignore Islam just because the US is reforming abortion and that's where you live.:rip:

And just to be clear, idgaf about Christians, right wingers or prolifers, i'm actually a leftist, i'm just against Islam for obvious reasons. It's just perplexing to me how yall will just support that **** because it's basically what the left tells you to do :rip:

So now you guys are claiming liberals DONT defend Islam?

It is an odd hypocrisy that "American Muslims aren't REAL Muslims, real Muslims are more conservative" is a talking point amongst reactionaries since it can so easily apply to lots of other religious groups. American Jews are more liberal than your average Jewish person worldwide. I wouldn't be shocked if such even extended to groups like Buddhists and Hindus.

I wonder why people only discredit American Muslims as not representative of their faith for not being extremely orthodox and conservative. :michael:

This obviously wasn't taken in the Middle East or Asia though, so how is this an accurate representation of how Muslims as a whole feel about abortion rights...?

The criticism is that Americans are so ******* illiterate and ignorant to their own backwards ass society and way of life that they can only comprehend the negatives of their society by comparing it to cultures it deems less then. Like to highlight that these issues are wrong because they're outside some mythical American high standard.

No, the Supreme Court is not the "Christian ISIS". No, America isn't "becoming like China" when it's police murder people in broad daylight.

These are all inherently American phenomenon that require acknowledging America as a deeply undemocratic religious police state. :skull:

These qualities are not foreign or abstract. They are central to the reality of the last 400 years of American barbarism as an oppressive state onto itself and others.

And that's that on that :cm:

y'all are so dense. she's not saying that muslims are responsible for this, she's saying that SCOTUS are becoming like the Taliban

No, SCOTUS are enforcing their fundamentalist Christian beliefs. Hatred of women and minorities is an inherently American value that goes back hundreds of years to when the colonies were founded with roots in Puritanical culture based on The Bible. The point is that blaming that on ~the Taliban~ is purely islamophobia BECAUSE it exists in our Christian society from the get go, we don't need to "become" anyone else to do so. This was done by Americans with American values. And people like Bette don't want to face that truth.

What part of Twitter folks equating hardcore Christian conservative views with the Taliban's conservative views do you people not grasp? :rip: Nobody is saying that SCOTUS made their decision because of Muslims, just that their Christian beliefs mirror the beliefs of the Taliban, who simply happen to be Muslims.

Are Muslims and/or their supporters really not understanding this simple comparison of conservative viewpoints and how hardcore Christians and hardcore Muslims are so much alike? :psyduck:

And why is that necessary to do? :)

Why bring up the Taliban at all? :)

Oh I don't know, maybe because they're similar with regards to being conservative and not caring about women's rights? :psyduck: Why exactly does it bother some  ATRLers that 6 conservative SCOTUS judges are being compared to a terrorist organization? Do y'all feel bad for the Taliban or...?

I suppose Bette could've compared SCOTUS to the Third Reich though; would that have been better?

Why would anyone poll the Middle East about what laws are being done in the US to know how Americans feel??? :deadbanana4:

Yes, because they were Christians, therefore that would be a perfect comparison to make about the rise of Christofacism in America :)

I wonder why no one’s doing that? :)

These people on this forum will literally gaslight American Muslims and somehow expect us to answer for the crimes of corrupt ass oligarchs in countries we've never lived in. As if Muslims in America have any power to influence. As if the last 20+ years have been blaming us for an act of a few. As if we don't have to be as progressive/American as possible in order to EXIST because of what happened. Yet one user is spewing a bunch of nonsense at me saying I must subscribe to all of the terrible aspects of the religion they've researched and thus be as terrible, backwards and regressive as they view people in third world countries in order to be a believer.

Supreme Court just passed a ruling that teachers in PUBLIC school can lead the entire class in prayer. Florida passed legislation meaning teachers cannot show their queer spouses, display rainbows & teach queer history. Texas is trying to pass legislation that bans Sodomy/homosexuality. All things that are as American as Apple pie, but they want to compare this to the Taliban when they could very well post a pic of the SLAVE OWNERS who founded this country.

News flash: The Taliban/Islam is not the tentpole of misogyny and conservatism in the world. Open a book, look up your own country's history. Understand that these stupid ass comparisons only further a belief that Muslims are barbaric when these laws are being passed in AMERICA based on AMERICAN beliefs. You realize that The Supreme Court is reading our very own constitution and belief system to forge their rulings, not the Quran, not the Shariah law, not Muslim Scholars.

Yes if she compared The Supreme Court to the Third Reich, it would at least be another group which uses Christianity to further their agenda, which is what they are currently doing.
