Anime and manga have entered the mediocre rom com era, so it's gonna plateua.

Normies have ruined the genre as they usually do.

A "Rock music as a genre is still relevant because the Rolling Stones can still sell out stadiums" tea

That was an example

The same could be said about anime conventions and their huge number of participants, streaming platforms constantly catering to otakus, animes like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure becoming popular through memes, etc.

It's huge right now, you have One Piece, Attack On Titan, Death Note, Demon Slayer, etc etc all doing amazing.

I was in elementary, middle school, and a year of high school in the 2000s and it was never cool to like anime. :emofish:

"Cool" kids sucked anyways. :coffee2:

Also since people are curious about manga, it's been outselling western comics in the west for years now. :camping:

Anime is more than a genre, though.

They are rebooting some of the oldies anime series (Devilman, Bastardy, etc.), so I think anime is more popular than ever now.

Anime is bigger than it has ever been. Saying "oh, well there's no DBZ/Pokemon" is such a poor argument, anime isn't represented by the popularity of the biggest brand. Demon Slayer, One Piece, My Hero are absolutely MASSIVE  and growing even more, especially with streaming. AND things like Naruto, DBZ, Pokemon are still hugely popular and rewatched, referenced.

Castlevania on Netflix is making a huge wave right now from what I see.

Lara Croft and Devil May Cry are about to get anime shows on Netflix too.

The demand is definitely there.
