The song sucks ass tho. He flops whenever he tries to pander to straight rap fans (first with Holiday and now with... whatever this new song was)

Time for more gay bops! It's clear it's what the GP wants from him

When you compare it to his songs like Old Town Road and Rodeo, it is. :coffee:

It's literally a Christmas song, it was never intended for his album :rip:

It’s a BOP, but I get, some people just can’t understand it, it’s not for everyone

Holiday was targeted to kids. Industry Baby was targeted to straight rap fans and it's his 2nd biggest hit.

This even sounds like a watered down rehashed of it. He should chase different sounds

Did he not try to ponder to straights with industry baby? Had the hottest new straight rapper on it too.

Oh yes, a song with lyrics about "having hoes" and "b*ttoming on the low" is clearly intended for children's consumption :eli:

Industry Baby didn't feel like straight pandering to me especially when you watch its music video

Isn't Old Town Road also about sex? Kids loved that one too

gqCjZq4.gif

& Industry Baby is straight "pandering". The video isn't.

But it's the first Lil Nas song Straights have publicly acknowledged listening to since OTR and Panini

Just my opinionata

EDIT:

Upon lyrical research just done 5 seconds ago. OTR is not about sex. so I concede there

I actually really like him a lot (and his songs that are more poppier) but Holiday did flop and it was supposed to be on his album. You don't get a football ad spot teaser for an expensive music video of a one-off holiday single from a then one-hit wonder.

LIL NAS X MAKES HIS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO FOR “HOLIDAY” – Sony Music Canada

Quote

The song was co-produced by Take A Daytrip and Tay Keith, and marks Lil Nas X’s first offering from his forthcoming debut album.

Quote

To celebrate the track’s release, he had a small gathering with friends, but his focus kept shifting to comments about the track on Twitter. “I was seeing some nice things,” he recalls. “But I was seeing a lot of ******* negativity too.” So he checked the charts. “And I was like, ‘Oh ****. This is not even in the top 200. Oh god. What the **** did I do wrong?

...

“I told my manager, ‘I don't want to do it. Let's cancel it. Let's get rid of it. There's no point. Nobody's really ******* with this song.’ I was crying. I was upset with myself. I felt like I’d…” He pauses, grasping for the right words, eventually settling on: “failed myself, almost. I was crying like a crazy person. You know one of those times where you cry so hard your fuckin head hurts? It was like that.”

The next morning, he spoke with Ron Perry, the Chairman and CEO of Columbia Records. While he doesn’t recount the conversation in detail, he shares the one thing he took away from it: “We talked about how it's hard for artists who just had true success to get that back immediately,” he recounts. “I eventually got myself the **** up and said, ‘No, we got this. Let’s stay fuckin strong.” He went to his rehearsal. By his own description, he “went crazy on TikTok,” promoting the song until it became a fixture on the For You page.

I think Down Souf Hoes or even that Vitamin Water ad song would've been a safer hit than LTDP imo.

Yeah... every single time he "flops" he's considered to be "over". At least wait until he has a string of flops.  :rip:

Where's the gimmick on this song? It makes a difference.

Holiday vibes.

He's good at marketing so it'll rise in the end.

Right people keep looking stupid discarding new artists whenever one song underperforms.
