it's just hilarious that for years certain people on ATRL have sworn that Beyoncé is not a streaming force, is "over", is a "flop". They've clung to side projects like EIL and TG over and over to point to whatever narrative they wanted to claim about her career, even saying Homecoming, one of the most successful and famous live albums of the entire century was a flop...

...only for them to come in here now and see that she got the highest first day streams of a female artist this year and call this an "underperformance".

I told you in order to close that conversation, if it can help you think Bey is a flop, go right ahead.

OT : great numbers for The Queen.

Yep, we're getting a new solo era. :clap3:

I already said I will and you keep going.

OT: not even top 5 anymore

Name the female artists that dropped project this year.

Exactly.

This thread is a mess and has misinformation on both sides.

I saw someone boldly lie that Spotify is less harsh on filtering now, going from max 10 to max 20, when that is the complete OPPOSITE. It’s max 10 now when it used to be max 20…

Both women are smashing, getting awards and acclaimed. There is no need to compare from a negative aspect!

Not this being an 'underperformance' :rip: What exactly were you expecting from a late 90s RNB act who just released a retro, house club banger on a Tuesday with her only promotion being an instagram bio change the day before  The OBHs are truly delusional :lmao:

OT: Incredible stability, which is a very good sign

Clearly it didn't give you closure because you're still here quoting me.

Female artists that dropped new music on Spotify this year:

  • Lizzo
  • Taylor Swift
  • Christina Aguilera
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Avril Lavigne
  • Charli XCX
  • Rosalia
  • Anitta
  • Kehlani
  • and more...as I don't have a master list of all releases...

...maybe it's not the year of the biggest releases ever but it's not like no one of any substance released new music.

The fact still remains that Beyoncé still got the biggest debut first day numbers on Spotify for a female artist so far this year. The above list still contains several hyped, popular and successful artists, stars in their own right, and several peers of Beyoncé's generation.

Nobody pushed a narrative that BMS is a smash. Where have you seen this? We are content with the song's performance.

And even if we thought it was a smash, what the hell do you care?

right like it's literally been 3 days since it was released (if we could Monday as one day), we've gotten 2 days of Spotify numbers, no one is really calling it a smash here let alone going out to other threads to say so...

...the fact that people are imagining this scenario just to take offence and feel justified in trying to belittle these numbers says a lot about the insecurity and/or outright hate of Beyoncé.

and any comparisons to any other hit is squarely due to the fact that people are coming HERE to compare songs not mentioned in the title to the one that is.

I hope ATRL will one day learn that the success or failure of other artists has no bearing on the success or failure or overall estimation of your fave. Focus on what they achieve, what they do, what they offer the world insofar as their music and message. Do not focus on other artists you perceive are rivals or threats to your fave's stature who (most of the time) don't even have the same brand or fulfil the same reasons why fans enjoy their music.

As it relates to this thread, in what seems to largely be a discussion about Gaga and Beyoncé despite this being a Beyoncé thread...

They are too very different artists. The similarities start and end with they make empowering pop music. Their brands are different. They do different things. They make music in different ways. I'm not sure I'd say that they each do things the other couldn't do (per se), but each does things in a way that the other does not. Either could have had a 10-week smash in the last 2 years and neither would have been any less important, beloved, respected, or unique in pop music.

Give it up.

Some monsters also thought SL was gonna become a global smash and got brave only for it to tank after the debut week.

We had the first Spotify's numbers 15 hours ago and before a single Hive member even entered the thread, he was met with such posts

I only stopped on the 1st page although they're basically the only reason this thread went 37 pages.

No one said the song was a smash, we didn't even get the occasion to celebrate, they were all here.

We also didn't compare it to that song they now call a TANK, they were the first to bring that up.

To get angry because people reply to a comparison THEY started to prove them wrong is a special brand of mental illness.

To get angry because some fans celebrate the numbers their fave did (which they didn't even let us do) is a level of insecurity that borders on insanity.

OT : Great hold Queen.  :clap3:

I think the most annoying part is trying to ruin OUR moment, OUR fun, OUR fave's numbers just to make themselves feel better? I'm not sure what the motive is...

though I imagine that's an ATRL-wide thing, I just don't spend much time at all in other artist's stat threads like...why?

With a 2014 album track, quite weird to name Taylor like she dropped actual new music

OT: She's doing good so far honestly

  • The Weeknd - Take My Breath 4,861,544
  • Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits 4,719,958
  • Post Malone and The Weeknd - One Right Now 4,252,161
  • Silk Sonic - Leave the Door Open 3,818,882
  • Doja Cat - Kiss Me More (feat. SZA) 3,538,440
  • Post Malone - Cooped Up (feat.Roddy Ricch) 3,080,803
  • Lizzo - Rumors (feat. Cardi B) 2,916,657
  • Megan Thee Stallion - Sweetest Pie (feat. Dua Lipa) 2,431,789

Looks like a pretty big smash to me. Particularly for a song released midweek with 4 hours missing from the tracking day. :clap3:

:clap3:

B with strings of flop side projects whose last hit was 2009 outdid Ed, Weekend and Kendrick.
