So Beyonce and Gaga ARE on the same league, since they're being compared and are basically doing similar numbers :eatpopcorn:

beyoncé debuted in 1997 :dancehall3:

I don't see a good sign here. It fell literally 15 positions in Brazil were it was #1 yesterday.

Outside the English speaking countries... The results are not good IMO

It's extremely hard for internacional acts to even enter the Top 10 here. She is still doing great, our domestic consumption is just too big.

You're fave is competing against a woman who scored her first hit song when your girl was in the SIXTH grade...and she lost.

Move on...

@GoodGuyGoneGhetto Is it #3 or #4 in the US today?

You have #4 in the title

It's not tanking on AM either like I expected, some girls couldn't even see the top 40.

Right? As if her removing EVERY SINGLE PROFILE PIC on all her platforms wasn't an strategic move to generate hype... We ALL KNOW how strategic Beyoncé can be when it comes to releasing music. She knew what she was doing.

And yet @swissman insists all she did was change her bio. Nevermind we've been hearing about her new album and single coming for over a month... :skull:

a few things:

  • she announced her new album 7 days ago (not over a month)
  • she announced the single 1 day before it came out, which was 3 days ago (not over a month)

Removing her profile pictures was indeed a strategy, but to imply doing the opposite of normal promotion (uploading not removing) is equivalent to legitimate promo that expressly state and advertise what is coming is a huge stretch. She put mystery out there to gain attention from her fans. That's not tangible, unmissable, concrete promo that we think of when we say a popstar "promoted" their work.

If Beyoncé really was as irrelevant as her haters say she is, then removing a profile picture is not going to do anything for her whatsoever. But that's not the case. Beyoncé was able to use the absence of information to serve as her own form of promotion well, and that's why perhaps it has felt like a month has elapsed since she released information. I agree with that. It has felt like longer because she's used the time so wisely.

But let's not act like just because she's good at doing minimal promotion that it therefore is BIG promotional moves.

You guys acting like this is an actual competition :rip: Gaga didn't lose anything, her career is more than fine, she's a celebrated and respected actress, has 14B+ streams on Spotify as a main artist, has one of the biggest Vegas residencies ever and has a stadiums tour booked for the summer, even if she never had a hit again, she's already an icon, and she will surely become a legend :eatpopcorn:

she did have a good playlisting ewith no 1 on TTH so yes this is a major promotion on the streaming era

it also pretty much worked for her, mainly in her importent markets

nothing bad about it

Yes, and monsters admit it but the other fanbase can’t admit it trying to push the narrative that BMS is a smash.

OT: better that I thought but still an underperformance

yes but a #1 placement on TTH pretty standard for MPGs, isn't it? it's great promo, no doubt, but I was commenting on what happened leading up to it, namely the idea that she had been promoting it/her album for "over a month".

now that it's out, she posted the single cover, and that's it.

okay but Spotify has said this is the highest first day debut for a female artist this year so it's not as if this isn't doing well for what it is...
