Do you have Long-COVID?

Recommended Posts

It's been 6 months since I contracted COVID for the first time yet here I am, still struggling to do any strenuous activity without feeling like I'm about to die due to body pain and breathing difficulty. Are all Long COVID sufferers doomed to live like this till they die? Will it ever get better?

Don't think I've ever had COVID knock on wood, been tested a lot as well. Once went clubbing and got tested the next day and I came up negative with no symptoms as well lol, thank God.

Not sure but right after having COVID in April and thinking I recovered I got a nasty throat infection in May which went away in a week or so. Now I suddenly got some kind of gross wet cough going on. Then again I am a massive hypochondriac so who knows. :gaycat6:

There honestly needs to be a major movement for long COVID sufferers and people suffering from other forms of post-viral fatigue. We’re basically left to fend for ourselves and disability “benefits” in America are bullshit. It’s not like we can riot in the streets to force change either because we’re all too tired to do so :gaycat6:

What did your doctor say about the dark phlegm? Is it like normal post Covid? Because I've heard it's a sign of old bleed in there or something.

:cries: I told one of my professors that I was turning in a written assignment late because I couldn't write for a long time without getting muscle pains post Covid and he didn't believe me

He didnt really say much. He told me to wait it out and it'll go away but it hasnt so i may go back to see him in a week.

Only thing that helps is flu pills or cough syrup.

Whats old bleed? Ive never heard of that before

thankfully no, but I know people who do and it sucks from what I've heard

my heart goes out to y'all, wishing you speedy recovery

How long has that been going on?

I had what felt like a brain fog for about 18 months after I had Covid. I couldn’t get any work done at all. One day about 4 months ago it was like the fog lifted suddenly and I’m back to my normal.

I hope you (and everyone else) return to normal soon :heart2:

I meant like if you had a small hemorrhage due to Covid pneumonia before, the blood might come out with the phlegm and make it look dark...? I'm not sure about this though, I hope your doctor helps you!!

I believe I do.

I breathe heavier than usual, lose my breath doing simple things like going up the stars, fatigue really easily especially at the gym, I feel like I have some of that "brain fog" that experts have mentioned. It sucks.

I'm also not overweight and have always been healthy

I've experienced the same symptoms as you.

extreme fatigue after the smallest tasks, also a lot of headaches, I actually caught a cold a few days ago and now I legit feel like I cannot breathe, I've never in my life had lung problems, but right now I'm using an inhalator so I can at least breathe. going up the stairs leaves me dizzy, and I also relate to the user above having a lot of "brain fog". it's so ******* tiring. I think I got it really bad.

also I don't know if anyone else experienced this, but when I first got COVID my symptoms lasted for two and a half weeks.

When I got covid last year (in Feb-March) it took me months to fully recover, keep in mine I got it before vaccines and right before Delta. I didn't stop coughing until late June. I did a CT scan a couple months later and I got "accentuation of lung interstitium" (don't mind me if that's not the correct diagnosis to english), they told me everybody with covid would have that and that it would heal by itself, try get checked maybe!

Nope. I had Covid bad for like 10 days and then it took me another 2 weeks to completely shake off feeling shitty but that was like 3 months ago and I feel as good as ever now.

I've had the WORST symptoms for around a month now. Heavy coughing, coughing up THICK dark mucus, chest congestion and I can't breathe even after just walking up the stairs :skull: I also have a really sore/swollen throat, blocked nose and sneezing fits but that could be more to do with seasonal allergies.

I'm about to demand my doctor prescribe me something because it's impossible for me to live my life like this :doc:

I had a mild case of COVID in January 2021, lost my sense of taste and smell for two weeks, and then seemed to fully recover. Then in March I developed this thing called parosmia, which basically distorts your sense of smell and therefore taste as well. Everything started smelling and tasting disgusting, like rotten garbage. Literally almost all food became inedible to me, and I went 3 months living off of like the 2 or 3 snacks I could actually eat, it was awful. Even some of the things I could eat would eventually go bad. Thankfully I discovered that I could eat by using nose plugs, like the ones swimmers wear. I’ve had it for 15 months now and everything is still distorted, although maybe not as bad as before. I don’t know if it’s gotten better or if I’ve just gotten used to it though. All I can really do is smell train and try out different supplements hoping they’ll help me get my normal senses back. I’ve read that it’s not usually permanent, but that it can potentially last 2-3 years. Lots of people have recovered before then though. I’m used to it now so it’s not even a big deal anymore, but the thought of it being permanent scares me.

Man Covid seems more serious than most people treat it. It's still out there too but lots of ppl don't care anymore...maybe we should?

I did, I think. It was the “brain fog” for me. I work remotely and forced myself to work through the week or two that I had symptoms, as it was over the holiday and I thought I’d basically get brownie points for being committed (spoiler alert: I am now looking to leave that company). By the end I was so confused I could barely complete basic tasks. For months after I recovered, I was still just a different person. Not incredibly different, but usually I’m okay on the brain side of things, and I just wasn’t anymore. I would forget words in the middle of a sentence, I’d have to have people slow down to explain things, couldn’t remember how to do some work tasks - it was like someone just took a hammer to my sense of intelligence and functionality. I don’t think it really went away until late April, four months after I’d gotten sick. It was such a bizarre experience and I’m happy it’s over, but it really makes me feel for the people who are still going through things like that.

I'm an amateur lifter. After I had covid (December 2020), I lost around 20% of my strength. It's not not the same anymore ever since...

I caught COVID-19 in March, and I was triple-vaccinated.

My symptoms were quite bad during the week I had it, I was off work for 10-days. Now though, I still have abnormally severe fatigue and muscle pain that will not go away. I can sleep for 8 hours, eat healthy, and exercise daily but will still feel exhausted after being awake for only 3-4 hours.

Unfortunately my family physician has not had much to offer me on this and essentially just said these symptoms are not uncommon for those with long-COVID and the best I can do is continue to do my schedule and hope it goes away? But I definitely have felt different since catching COVID.
