UnusualBoy Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Ngl, I was expecting more since he debuted when sales were healthier, decent sales tho.

The consistency is only matched by Eminem (and very likely Drake in the future).

VioletsandRoses Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Not 1989 and Fearless outselling his albums combined

He may not have had the biggest commercial peak in the U.S, however his albums displayed good longevity which is also why he’s still relevant and significant - 18 years into his mainstream career. There are other Hip-Hop artists who have had albums sell more than West’s biggest, but their commercial power died over a decade ago and they since haven’t recovered ie. Nelly, 50 Cent, Ludacris, OutKast (although their last true album was almost 20 years ago) etc. Only Eminem is above him for post-00’s rap acts in terms of pure sales (excl. SPS). It really is surprising tbh. Beyoncé sold around 18M pure sales and she only had six albums compared to Kanye's 10; and they debuted around the same time. Normally, hip hop artists are great album seller in the US, no?
Steve Johnson Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 15 million is super great but with all those fake dramas/ meltdowns he does every era to propel his sales, I expected more.

BnPac Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 It's weird how Atrl just don't understand that the market and the reach is limited for Hip Hop and RnB artists. I don't know what seems so hard to grasp. No rapper after him did so well. No RnB singer also probably or very few. OT : Congrats.

I think we already have a convo about Em so I won't waste my time. And please do tell how many pure copies has Drake sold? And please do also answer how many RnB or Hip hop artists have sold more than Ye since he went solo? Edited June 17, 2022 by BnPac

If we talk about equivalent album units Drake, if we talk about pure sales we have 50 cent who debuted 1 year before ye and crossed 17m in 2014. As far as i know since ye debuted only 2 artists has crossed 15m pure album sales, Taylor and Adele
