West’s pure album sales are great.

 

He may not have had the biggest commercial peak in the U.S, however his albums displayed good longevity which is also why he’s still relevant and significant - 18 years into his mainstream career. 
 

There are other Hip-Hop artists who have had albums sell more than West’s biggest, but their commercial power died over a decade ago and they since haven’t recovered ie. Nelly, 50 Cent, Ludacris, OutKast (although their last true album was almost 20 years ago) etc.

 

Only Eminem is above him for post-00’s rap acts in terms of pure sales (excl. SPS).

Eminem is above Kanye in terms of pure sales, digital sales and streams. They are the only 00s hip hip artist with this kind of longevity

The year end charts for his first three albums were #12, #21, #12 and MBDTF was #11. His only album to reach the BB YE top 10 is 808. But I never thought he was a flop I just could’ve sworn this first three albums alone surpassed 15M a while back.

That is why we are surprised.   We would have thought he would have crossed this threshold long ago.  I would have thought his first 4 albums would have gotten him to 11 million at least and that was 14 years ago.
