Top 40 in most countries is in fact considered a hit, that's why there are Top 40 singles charts in some prominent music markets. Idk what do you think you're doing here 

 

It's a soundtrack single that has done well according to "soundtrack single standards", if that's what you want to measure it against since most never chart, let alone reach top 40
