It's such a silly argument. He just finished it and presented it to WB and a week later major trades are already reporting talks with the star of the last musical he produced. It doesn't get more obvious that she was the first choice.

Well, I just don't think it matter that she doesn't fit the archetype because I doubt that's what they were looking for. Robbie was a perfect fit when you were trying to find someone as similar as the Harley from the animated series she originated from, but that's clearly not what Todd did in the first film and if this whole thing about a musical is true, then it's VERY obvious he's going to continue staying away from certain comic book tropes. I actually think the New York New York argument holds a lot of water.

I kinda get what you’re saying but as the other user pointed out, Joaquin isn’t exactly you’re stereotypical casting for the Joker either. I think it could work if they do it right. but for now these are rumors anyway

i have and i still dont think thats the archetype for harley, maybe mid 2013 gaga is what id say was an ideal figure for the harley quinn role. again, im not saying shes fat but the role does have some visual aspects that gaga wouldnt normally follow. but yeah, if theyre going to change up the visual like they did with the joker then i could totally see gaga doing it

the concept of it being a musical does seem random to me bc i've never really watched something where a sequel becomes a musical but i'm sure that's happened before, i'm also not a huge fan of typical musicals but honestly this could be amazing and i really don't think joaquin would have signed on unless he thought it was good.

I always think of her 2015 Woman of the Year interview as well and she DID indeed explode into her 30s. #1 albums, #1 hits, Acclaimed & successful SuperBowl halftime show, successful sold out tours and Vegas residency, an Oscar, a BAFTA, 7 Grammys, 2 acclaimed leading roles including a Best Actress nom for her first one, 2 box office hit movies and she's still going strong.
