Thoughts on Madonna (be honest)

Recommended Posts

Madonna is the biggest selling female artist of all time that paved the road for every pop girl afterwards that still use her templates today. She has tours and records that have yet to be beat and is the most popular MPG in history. Yet she is the most hated artist on ATRL that discredit her impact and don't believe her popularity and sales were legit.

What are your thoughts on her?

(keep it cute)

Incredibly perceptive in recognising her strengths early on and utilised them to her advantage to become the best selling female artist and most influential female artist of modern times, with a career lasting 40+ years.

I don't think she's the most hated on this site, pretty much most agree that she's very influential (which she is) and don't discredit her as much as say Janet.

OT: A brilliant artist whose impact will be felt and seen for years and years to come.

Legend. Great legacy, amazing albums and artistry and live performances. Visionary and hard worker.

No one will ever touch her career overall :sorry:

Legendary talented artist, brilliant reinventions

Great discography (1983-2005)

Will always admire her philanthropy and how outspoken she is

Questionable choices/statements and unpleasant personality at times

She is fine as she is however sometimes, she can be a little cringe with her antics. I still like her as a person and an artist + I am happy she is enjoying motherhood too. Some girls are always saying she is destroying her legacy, but to me, her legacy isn't going anywhere and she is at the point she can do anything she wants. even if that means a death metal album  or a polka clown car music video.

She is an absolutely stunning artist, songwriter, and emoter. Sure, she had her flops recently, but you can still see that artistry in more recent songs like Masterpiece or Falling Free or Joan of Arc, etc. Her ballads are extremely underrated and it's sad that the people just know her (mostly) from her dancier stuff, rather than stuff she put her soul in. Obviously, there are exceptions to this (LAP, Frozen, etc.), but I wish people knew how emotional she can be. Everything from LAP to Confessions is absolutely excellent, and everything post-Confessions has its gems.

Pop music pioneer held to very high standards, impossible to sustain in the long term and heavily affected by the pass of time. Unfortunately, not uncommon to in the music industry. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elvis, Britney, Marilyn Monroe, Prince, the amount of legends that fell from grace and were destroyed by the industry, such a shame.

Not really that keen on her. I can never forgive her for talking **** about Janet to Michael and the comments she made about Mariah and the letter she wrote about Whitney. She's insulted like 90% of my faves so it's not easy to like her after all that. :rip:

As far as her music - I've never been able to get into any of her albums but I do like the odd few songs (Justify My Love, Human Nature, a few Hard Candy/Madame X songs).

The most significant female artist in the history of popular music. Intelligent, hard-working, ambitious and business-savvy. An alpha female who was incredibly ahead of her time regarding many social issues. A survivor and a true legend.

She's my favourite singer and in my opinion has the best discography out of all recording artists. Literally 0 skips from RoL to CoaDF, which is 4 albums :clap3:

I admire her work ethic and I've always loved her sense of humour, I always see people say she's not funny but in my opinion she's just very dry and says things for fun and people always take it the wrong way.

I really liked her music up to the mid 2000s. I’m not a fan of her more recent work. Overall I admire her longevity & career but I feel she’s doing anything to stay relevant lately.

Enviable work ethic, master marketer and self promoter, bold and pioneering, calculated. She's also a try-hard.

She still has one of the greatest discographies in the history of popular music and every woman artist to debut in the last 35 years owes a debt of gratitude to her.

No other artist has had such a profound effect on my life. She will always hold a very big part of my heart (and my record collection). Maybe that's why it's so hard to watch her lately. Social media was the worst thing that could have ever happened to her, and I hope she gains more confidence soon.

Also, for as many pop stars as she inspired, very few seem to have understand anything that she was doing. Madonna bent the music industry and made an origami swan out of it. Nobody else aside from Taylor has ever come close to doing what she did.

She's very good at marketing. She's not a great singer, dancer or songwriter (she does these things decently though), however, she knew how to work on her brand and knew exactly what would sell and what wouldn't. She had charisma and a unique personality, an X-Factor that lacks on many other singers that were/are more talented than her.

Madonna is also very creative but seems to have lost her touch since 2008 when instead of creating trends, started to chasing them. I don't blame her due to ageism and how the market have changed. Things weren't the same as years/decades ago.

And of course, her latest attempts at "controversies" were cringy and messy, she doesn't know how to do it anymore and ends up looking like a fool... but i don't think that's enough to ruin her legacy though. She's just not respected as her other peers due to that, but everyone is aware of her impact on the industry and when she's gone she'll always be remembered as a legend.

She's rightfully the queen of pop. Thank you Madonna for all that you brought with your music and entertainment! Having said this, I also find her extremely cringeworthy and hard to get into. She often crosses the line between artistic and artsy-fartsy, and I don't think she's put out any well-executed projects in a while. But her legacy lives on forever.

It's not fanfic... Just look at every thread about her lately. All trolling aside, we know her social media is a mess but people ride with it to fuel on the stan war.

But I admire you're input on her career. I know we don't alway see eye to eye (cause we poke fun at each other's favs). But it means a lot that you're a fan on Madge and admire her work and respect her legacy.

I think people are mostly just trolling honestly. Majority on this site acknowledge her great impact on music/their faves, amazing longevity and they like at least a few songs from her. I don't really think she gets disrespected like for example...Janet tbh. Plus, several M stans here make it hard to root for ha so I guess that's why.

And yes I like M and her music a lot :gaycat2:

My favorite artist of all time. :heart2: I genuinely think I’d be a different person if I hadn’t discovered her work.

The most meaningful artist in pop music

I don't have enough knowledge about her to make an opinion. All I know is 4 Minutes music video, and what I saw on Rupaul Drag Race Madonna the Rusical.

I do enjoy Vogue the odd time it comes on my local Top 40 radio station.

Living legend, set the bar for all the mainstream pop girls coming after her.
