That's actually when I started the show too and I was 10. My parents wouldn't let me watch the show before that so I just watched the ads when they aired and pretended I saw the whole episodes in school when kids talked about it. :rip:

Haha. I was beginning to be allowed to stay-up later, all because I watched CBs sitcoms, any way. Saw the ending of S05E21 at my [former] friend's house, and was like, "OMG WHAT IS THIS?!" and was hooked.

Buffy never officially aired in my country, it was all about Charmed.

Back in 2003 Charmed exploded, it became cultural phenomenon so other channel tried airing Buffy but they only aired first two episodes before they stopped and I remember liking it but being like one of 2 people from school, and air time was Sunday at 14h or something like that :clack:

And that's also the reason this show is basically unknown in my country.

I'll never understand what happened with Charisma's hair during Angel. I read somewhere that producers wanted her to change her appearance and become blonde with time, but they couldn't get it right.

So many different hairstyles during S2 and S3. It is unusual to see in a show.

S1, and first half of S2 has the best Cordy hair. But first half of S3 Is the best short hairstyle on her. I honestly thought she looked gorgeous

Yeah I agree, early S3 was such a serve, I don't know why they continued changing it, in the middle of the season she had those short banks, and then returned with  blonde Karen hairstyle that looked like she had a nest on her head :rip:

I understand decision behind aging her character, but I wonder if producers wanting blonde person in the cast is true...

Charisma Carpenter has gone on record about her hair, specifically in seasons two and three. She requested, following the first season, to cut her hair and the producers refused. In retaliation, she got extra-long extensions until producers relented and allowed for her to cut her hair. The going blonde was per the producers. In an interview, Carpenter stated:

❝ I wanted a change from the first season because I had to wear a lot of curlers every day. It wasn't fun and it was hard to maintain continuity-wise. My solution, since I couldn't cut my hair, with that whole fiasco with the WB telling USA Today "Nobody can cut their hair", was to go in the opposite direction and get longer hair. I got much longer hair and I started to have repercussions from that. It was too much for my scalp and it was just creating a lot of ickiness and hardship and was not the right thing to do. So I begged, half way into season two, for them to let me cut my hair. They did and then it was darker and they didn't like that dark edge for Cordelia. It wasn't as warm and effervescent as she is usually, so they wanted me to go shorter and blonder. Hence, I'm growing it back out because I think I'm going to go back to season one style. It will just make life a lot easier. ❞

So, undoubtedly, she didn't grow the hair back out as suspected, but the producers got their way: she went blonde. Albeit, not a bd look on her... but it followed a trend happening in the early-to-mid 2000's of everyone going blonde.

As for season four... I think they did the publicity shoot prior to shooting any episodes in the fourth season, but in watching the first episode of season four she did have that style. Undoubtedly, returning Cordelia to a brunette during the season was likely a mixture of the storyline Cordelia was involved with, as well as Carpenter in-real-life pregnancy (as pregnant women really shouldn't dye their hair, due to the chemical fumes being unhealthy for the unborn child).

Whoa thank you for detailed answer. I do remember that one episode from S2 where she had cut her hair for the first time, and after that they kept modifying it until she had it blonde and short for Pylea.

The fact that she had 3 or 4 different hairstyles and change of color in 3 seasons straight is so unusual for network television, back in the day. When continuity was everything.

She is stunning on poster for Season 4, but in reality that hairstyle from end of S3 and early S4 was such a Karen hairstyle/nest instead.

Her going from this I loved Cordelia's style season early on in season 3. She had a bit of an edgy look that looked great on her and her hair looked much better. Then came the

Anyway I finished re-watching S3 of Angel few days ago and here are some thoughts:

- it's not as fun as I remember, I don't know why I thought of this season as peak of enjoyment, maybe I thought there were many monsters of the week episodes when in reality episodes like Waiting in the wings and Birthday are the ones that I think of when I think of this season. It's very cohesive, mature and very dark.

- I guess I thought it was best for enjoyment because of the full cast, but Fred is so damn annoying in season 3, she is pretty useless and I hate those cutesy type of characters. I also noticed her and Cordelia barely interacted

- I ADORED father will kill son prophecy storyline, it was jaw dropping even on the 3rd watch

- Wesley's character development was on top

- Darla had beautiful send off

Like I said, highlight of the season and series is Waiting in the Wings episode, that was really piece of art. Two seasons long sexual tension exploding in such a artistic way and just when they were supposed to happen - they didn't. And when that storyline is picked up again in season finale it's even sadder when it ends the way it does.

I still remember watching this for the first time and seeing Angel in the coffin being dropped in the ocean is one of the best cliffhangers ever. I was so shocked. I think that was the moment I realized I am obsessed with Angel The Show.

Anyway, I am really excited to rewatch S4 because notoriously I am not one of those haters. I don't remember much other than middle of the season being slayage after slayage after slayage.

Sure what they did to Charisma was bad, but I don't think it's fair to paint whole season bad because of it, and its storyline. Cordelia being possessed was actually massive plot twist at the time and it was done perfectly. The only reason it's looked upon badly these days is because it was her end and Charisma's bad experience. Honestly the only bad thing from that storyline is relationship with Connor. That's simply twisted.

It being last minute idea is also fan fiction.

So, on Amazon Prime Video, there is a "live" channel for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I cannot tell if they're using the remaster or the 16:9 UK edits... but the clarity is looks quite stunning.

You're quite welcome. I remember when we got the shorter hair Cordelia, and loved it... honestly. It really matured Cordelia in a way that I felt was needed for the character. A nice changeup.

So, I can confirm: it is the "remaster" they're using.
