BUFFY

I'm having a wicked shoe craving.
XANDER
Aren't you on the patch?
WILLOW
Those never work.
GILES
Here I am, invisible to the eye...
XANDER
See, I need a new look. It's this whole eye patch thing.
BUFFY
Oh, you could go with full black secret agent look.
WILLOW
Or the puffy shirt, pirate slash—
GILES
The earth is definitely doomed.

i wouldn't say humorless.

and it's not like The Gift was a laugh riot in comparison.

All of this is following Anya getting cut in half and Spike dying. We really needed a time jump to end the show to really feel the finality of it all, and get a sense of where Buffy is after all of the fallout of S6-7.

"dying" only until he pops back up in angel.

i'd hate a cheesy time jump like the harry potter epilogue.

I think an re-imagined animated Buffy in a similar style to the first 3 seasons would be a cultural reset.

I asked AI what they think are the best episodes of BTVS are this is what i got:

  1. "Hush" (Season 4, Episode 10): This episode is known for its unique silent format and introduces the creepy villains known as "The Gentlemen."
  2. "The Body" (Season 5, Episode 16): A powerful and emotionally impactful episode that explores the sudden death of a major character.
  3. "Once More, with Feeling" (Season 6, Episode 7): A musical episode that showcases the talents of the cast and has become one of the show's most iconic episodes.
  4. "Becoming" (Season 2, Episodes 21 and 22): A two-part season finale that delves into Buffy's past and features a heartbreaking sacrifice.
  5. "Prophecy Girl" (Season 1, Episode 12): The first-season finale that sets the tone for the series and delivers a pivotal moment for Buffy's character.
  6. "The Gift" (Season 5, Episode 22): A highly emotional and action-packed episode that serves as the finale for Season 5.
  7. "Graduation Day" (Season 3, Episodes 21 and 22): Another two-part finale that brings Buffy's high school journey to a dramatic close.
  8. "Passion" (Season 2, Episode 17): A dark and intense episode that deals with the consequences of Angelus's actions.
  9. "The Wish" (Season 3, Episode 9): An alternate reality episode that explores the consequences of Buffy never coming to Sunnydale.
  10. "Tabula Rasa" (Season 6, Episode 8): A comedic and light-hearted episode that involves a spell gone wrong, causing the characters to lose their memories.

All standout episodes, but OMWF and The Body aren’t in my top 10 tbh. I think almost any episode from season 3 is a top tier Buffy episode.

The Body is by far the best episode imo

Buffy will always be my favourite show but I find myself wanting to discuss it in here less and less as some of the opinions you guys have make me want to jump through a window.

Buffy is and will always be my favourite show of all time hands down. I don’t think I’d even still be here today if it wasn’t for this show. It almost feels like an insult to call it a show as it pulled me out of my darkest depths of depression. I could sit and talk about it for hours. My bio on PSN has never changed from being “If the apocalypse comes, beep me” :chick3:

Thissss … buffy was everything :jonnycat:

Dead Man’s Party is so underrated.

TVLine listed Angelus at their number-one "Best TV Villain" out of 59 other entries. (x)

When Buffy’s boyfriend experienced a moment of true happiness and lost his soul, he went truly evil, snarking about his and Buffy’s night of passion and, worse yet, tormenting her loved ones with almost sadistic zeal. After Angelus eagerly snapped Jenny Calendar’s neck in a tragic twist we’re still not over, it became abundantly clear the show had done the unthinkable: turned its romantic lead into its most formidable enemy.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they usually stink.  I fully believe [some] here are being full-on snarky for the sake of a post.  I'm always willing to positively, and constructively discuss the series with you! :heart2:

I don't know how an eighth season would have looked, honestly.  I'm happy with the sixth and seventh seasons, which I fully believe wrapped the narrative up perfectly.

Season 1 in general is very.... different from the rest of the series but once you make it past it, it’s worth it. I personally love season 1 though.

I highlighted the ones that would make my personal Top Ten although the order would likely be different - for example "Hush" would be much lower and on a good day might even be below #10. The others are all varying levels of greay, but I especially wouldn't think of putting "Tabula Rasa" ahead of stellar episodes such as, off the top of my head: "Innocence", "Doppelgangland", "Who Are You", "Restless", "Fool for Love", "After Life", "Dead Things", "Normal Again" or "Selfless".

It's really hard though, so many classics :alexz:

Buffy and Avatar are my favorite shows so I asked AI about the similarities between Aang and Buffy since I feel like they have similar roles in life.

Quote

1. Both are chosen ones: Buffy is a vampire slayer chosen by fate to fight vampires and other evil forces, while Aang is the Avatar, the only person who can master all four elements and bring balance to the world.

2. They both have a responsibility to protect the world: Buffy and Aang both have a duty to protect their world from the forces of evil. Buffy protects the world from vampires, demons, and other supernatural entities, while Aang protects the world from the Fire Nation's tyranny.

3. They both have a strong moral compass: Both Buffy and Aang have a strong sense of right and wrong. They always try to do what's right and protect the innocent, even if it means putting themselves in danger.

4. They both have a sense of humor: Despite the heavy responsibilities they carry, Buffy and Aang both have a sense of humor. They often use humor to lighten the mood and make their friends feel better.

5. They both have a team of friends who support them: Buffy and Aang both have a group of friends who support them and help them in their battles. Buffy has the Scooby Gang, while Aang has Katara, Sokka, and eventually Toph and Zuko.

6. They both face personal struggles: Both Buffy and Aang face personal struggles throughout their journey. Buffy deals with the trauma of being a slayer and the loss of loved ones, while Aang struggles with the weight of being the Avatar and the guilt of running away from his responsibilities.

Overall, Buffy Summers and Aang share some similarities in terms of their roles as chosen ones, their responsibilities to protect their world, their strong moral compass, their sense of humor, their team of friends, and their personal struggles.

ahh my faves :jonny5:

but they forgot to mention that the power of the Avatar and the Slayer moves onto another body after the previous one dies. Well, the Avatar reincarnates and the slayer power finds a

teen girl but almost the same

Season 7 would’ve been a completely different storyline because originally season seven was not going to be the final season until Sarah Michelle announced that she was quitting the show then suddenly they had to rewrite to make season seven the final season.

The ratings for season seven weren’t bad at all. Clearly, not its peak ratings but for a small network like UPN buffy, was its highest rated program at the time, and would have easily renewed for a season eight, maybe even a season nine.

Sarah was just exhausted

Rewatching Angel season 2 episode 18 and I forgot about Lindsey’s weird jealousy of Angel. But Angel teases him back and omg the hate flirting. :WAP:

buffy ended when it should have.

7 seasons is perfect for an extended classic run i.e. 30 rock and mad men.

also looking it up, it appears the upn rankings that year were as such:

SmackDown!

One on One

Enterprise

Girlfriends

Parkers

Half & Half

Buffy

Family Affair

Twilight Zone

Haunted

Platinum

Abby

Re-Watching season 6 premiere now and Willow mentions how Buffy didn’t die a natural death but a mystical one. So does that mean that’s the reason why there was no new slayer activated this time? This always used to bug me.

I can also accept that the slayer line is now continued through Faith but I really wish the show would have made this clear.

Yeah Buffy died once in The Prophecy and that's when the new Slayer was activated. Even if Buff is back from dead, it doesn't create two lines. Kendra died, Faith is activated so it would have taken her to die to have a new one (until Buffy activates everyone in the series finale with magic). I think they made it clear in season 7 that Faith is THE slayer.
