I've always loved the seventh season because of how full circle it became: returning to the high school and that premise that the series. It was quite brilliant if you ask me!

I was actually shocked to learn that S7 wasn’t planned to be the final season from the start as it always felt that way, like with how…

Spoiler

The First came back because of the fact Buffy was resurrected in the season prior, it just seemed to make sense why the storyline in S7 was a thing. I also love that we didn’t just get some random villain and that it was a callback to something we saw back in S3. I’m also a sucker for apocalyptic shows / movies so seeing the town evacuate on top of the stuff with the Uber Vamps / Bringers was just so chilling to me! I’ll never understand the hate that season got / gets. It’s genuinely one of my favourites to rewatch.

Actually...

I believe the same. Shame S7 gets so much hate, because it isn't warranted. But I understand. After the darkness of the S6 it was such a jolt back to what was. Plus, the change in camera mid-way through the season was also a glaring choice of budget-cut. I do love the callback to S1 with Buffy mentioning everything she faced during that season, but mentioning Principal Flutie (and not Snyder). And then the re-introduction of "the First", who tried killing Angel. It was a brilliant wrap up for the series. And I know people complain about the Summers house being the "main" hub for this season, but remember: the high school was the main hub for the first three seasons, Giles' house in S4 (which always felt off) and the Magic Box for S5/S6. The Summers' house being used felt more natural in comparison to that of Giles' house, because it's where they should have been safest and most strong, but it was also a vulnerable place for them.

I think S7 was still dark, but in a different way. It just had that eerie feeling throughout that made you feel uneasy, but I loved that. You could tell that something bad was coming and it wasn’t like anything they’ve faced before. Some of the episodes give me chills just thinking about them lol. I also had zero complaints about their home being the main hangout of the season, as it made complete sense. Where else would they go? And why would they go there? They had so many girls to look after and also make feel comfortable, so it made sense that their home became their ‘base’ for the season.

I don’t think Buffy had any bad seasons tbh. Obviously, some are better than others, but I’ve enjoyed every season and every episode. Some people think it’s being ‘biased’ but it’s not. I can’t help loving what I love lol. When I fall for something, I fall hard and I normally enjoy everything. I’ve enjoyed every episode of Buffy, Supernatural, Grimm, Fringe, Nikita etc

I feel like a lot of TV shows get snubbed. Maggie Q also deserved some for her performance in Nikita, but would never be nominated as it was on The CW.

I personally like season 7 and the Potentials storyline, I was always gagged as a kid to see Miranda from Lizzie McGuire as one of the girls or when the finale is briefly shown in The Johnson Family Reunion

Spoiler

I always wish Cordy made another appearance on Buffy after she left though, I hate that s4 Angel’s Cordy coincided with Buffy’s last season because I would have loved to see Cordy come back and help them in the finale. We never got to see her after all of her growth, show back up with the Scooby’s.

Glad someone else is a season 7 fan! yes its flawed but it's very entertaining and the finale is serviceable compared to what other great shows with a bad finale have gotten. At least it stayed true to it's origin.

Just rewatched the Primeval episode and I don’t remember it being this bad. :deadbanana:

The zombie scientists plus Forrest.
Demons vs Military guys.

Spike casually switching sides again.

Buffy’s Power of Friendship defeating Adam so easily. :deadbanana2:

Wow. I don’t remember Restless being lowkey scary. But it was so good! Different type of finale but great episode nonetheless.

Also, never knew Dawn was one of the kids in Xander’s dream. At least it looks like her, anyway.

It’s still insane to me how early they teased Dawn’s arrival and Buffy’s death. Such good writing! :wanda:

The brilliance of it all! Plus, the foreshadowing of Xander's eye (whether intentional or not).

I always want to take the time to give new shows a watch but I’m constantly craving a Buffy rewatch. It’s just such a comfort show.

I’m interviewing for a new job tomorrow so I might start Buffy as a good luck charm.

I'm on my usual vacation marathon; today is season four!! I remember, during the 2020 quarantine, I did a Buffy marathon about four-to-five times, with other shows mixed in, hahaha.

just rewatched normal again and read some reddit discussion on it.

i like the theory that the reason buffy never brought up being in an asylum before & it not being consistent with how joyce was in the first 2 seasons about the whole thing, is that Buffy was only in an asylum in the memories within the altered reality the monks created for Dawn's existence.

I always found it weird when, in 6x22, she tells Giles she is blonde "again," yet she was always blonde during the sixth season. Even with that not-so-subtle wig when Emma Caulfield cut her hair, and they wanted to conceal it.

So I just finished watching 7x19 when they kick Buffy out the house and Anya has straight hair and then the next episode it’s the same night but her hair is curled :toofunny3:

Continuity is an irk of mine. But still, her stating "I'm blonde again" is weird. She was never not blonde during that season, especially when Giles was around. Also, how TF did Buffy's hair grow several inches when she was dead... I get it semi-losing its colour, but it grew several inches and once showered it loss an inch or so, hahahah. Like 5x01, when Buffy wakes up in the beginning, her hair is curled, when she's in the cemetery, it's loosely straight and when she goes back to bed, it's freshly re-curled.

idk to give us something new to universally hate (but maybe love) lol? tbh i just wanna see a current take on the universe with some budget for sfx! anyway, just for fun, who would they cast as buffy summers in the reboot?

Really wish Buffy would have been put on Netflix USA during the pandemic. Avatar: The Last Airbender was put on during that time and it skyrocketed up the charts and then Legend of Korra was put on soon after.

Imagine it was Buffy and Netflix was willing to throw money at it?

SMG would still be like “no thanks” :deadbanana4:

(but probably a good thing because Netflix would’ve tried to reboot it with new actors and no body wants that!)

Spoiler

As much as I love the show, I wish the cast (outside of SMG who deserved to win multiple Emmys) was stronger. Alyson Hanigan and Nicholas Brendon just don’t bring much to their roles for me. I also like Emma Caulfield, Anthony Stewart Head, James Marsters, and Charisma Carpenter, but Hanigan, Brendon and Boreanaz just leave so much to be desired. I think Charmed, while not having as strong of worldbuilding or writing had a much stronger core cast.
