I think as a fanbase we have collectively changed our opinion drastically on Season 6. When it aired, I was very young and didn't quite understand the dense topics the show was addressing so the overall plot felt very different from what we were used to seeing. Now as an adult, it feels perhaps the more human and relatable season of the whole show because, and this is on a personal note, we've dealt with the aftermath of one of our parent's death, the financial pressure that comes with it and the overwhelming feeling of reminiscing of happiest moments in our lives and how we seem to be stuck in this 'new reality' so for me, I have kinder eyes when watching the Season because it truly goes in on different topics that can affect us simultaneously.

Season 6 definitely deserves this revision because it's a fantastic season.

I love season 4 some of the best episodes post-season 3 came from that season.

It has got great story arcs and standalone episodes

Hush

This Year's Girl / Who are You?

Primeval

Restless

Are fantastic!, it has got terrible episodes though but I think they did the best they could with the tough transition of setting up Buffy for what was coming next, we knew things were gonna get rocky once they graduated so I think they did ok setting up a context for Season 5.

I’ve seen online a lot that if you’ve actually suffered from depression and addiction etc that you enjoy S6 more because everything is extremely relatable. I’ve seen some people say it was ‘too dark’ - but what Buffy was going through was exactly what I’ve been through and sometimes even today, still go through. I loved seeing my hero struggling and ultimately overcoming her demons as it made me realise that I could continue to fight mine. The show saved my life many times and continues to do so.

I think the only really sucky episode was Goodbye Iowa mainly cause it's Riley centric and it drags too much and too much of the same.

I also don’t think Buffy had any ‘bad’ episodes. Even episodes like ‘Beer Bad’ were still enjoyable to watch, because Buffy at its worst is still better than a lot of shows at their best. Plus, we got the iconic “…and then group sex?” line from Willow. :dies:

Exactly, I mean, we were used to seeing Buffy being this badass superhero but when they showed the human side, for me was like, wow, she's really having to go through all of this alone, not knowing what to do and that inner saboteur telling her something is wrong with her, that was powerful. Those were moments where I truly felt that we all experience trauma very differently and yet, it's something so bonding and powerful.

Empty Places though... that's legit the only really true bad episode of the series

I don’t think it’s a bad episode. I know a lot of the fandom hate it because of the scene where Buffy is kicked out of her house, but I can see it from both sides. You have to remember that tensions are already high because there’s what, like 30 people living in one house together? They’re also dealing with another looming apocalypse and Buffy’s last plan got people killed and caused Xander to have life altering injuries. It did seem reckless of her to want to head straight back to the winery when you know they weren’t prepared to face such a battle again. I know how many times she’s saved their lives over the series run, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that everybody is rightfully scared and hesitant to go back to a place that almost got everybody killed the last time.

Ultimately, Buffy is right that Caleb was hiding something there, but I think that just heightens the moment when she comes to save everybody after Faith’s mission goes awry, because it really brings home that no matter how many slayers and potential slayers there are, Buffy is the chosen one.

Also, Willow and Xander talking in the hospital earlier in the episode is one of my favourite moments from the series. When they’re joking about what Xander doesn’t have to do anymore and she gets choked up, it’s just such a well acted scene from Alyson and it always makes me teary eyed.

I would understand if that whole scene happened if Xander had been killed like originally planned but that whole contrived scene exists to solely make Spike look good.

Robin, Kennedy had no right to be in this discussion they were just pissy they werent the leaders.

I mean, losing an eye is hardly a minor injury. It’s completely altered his life from that moment forward and none of the characters in the show had anything like that happen to them up until this point.

I think it’s easier to see the potential slayers point of views because they don’t know Buffy like the rest of the gang and this is the first time any of them have faced anything like this. It’s not shocking that they aren’t willing to follow Buffy’s orders when they’ve just seen friends of theirs get slaughtered.

but Willow & Giles knew Buffy very well they accomplished many victories with her but all of sudden its like the last 7 years they had with each other didn't exist. Kennedy should have been told to shut her damn mouth a lot earlier but I was happy it was Faith who did it in the next episode.

Screw your Joss!!

Sarah was the one who approached everyone with S7 being the last, she was tired and felt like creatively they were "done" and she wanted to leave on a high note rather than drag it to the point people would beg for them to cancel

Joss tried hard to get her on board for a S8, then even thinking of another spinoff if I recall

What are your unpopular opinions about Buffy/Angel?

I’ve been following Naj’s reactions on YouTube (as well as The Normies) and low key, I actually really like season 4 of Angel. It’s so messy but I live for it. Spin The Bottle, Habeas Corpses, Calvary, Salvage, Release & Orpheus are some of my favorite episodes of the whole series.

Spoiler

Faith’s return, Cordy (or rather Jasmine) being the big bad, Cordy vs Willow, Angelus :jonny5:

I also really LOVE Buffy season 1, like it’s in my top 3. I don’t care if it’s cheesy and dated, it’s the most nostalgic season for me.

Actually she didn’t. It was the complete opposite.

Sarah approached Joss & Network with being done because her contract ended with season 7.

However the rest of the cast found out by a headline of an interview of Sarah saying it.

Thats one of the main reasons the actress that plays Willow doesn’t care for Sarah.

Bests friends on the show but not in real life.

The network offered whatever they could to get Sarah to sign on for another season yet she still declined.

There was rumors they offered her double salary for a shorten season 8.

Angel season 4 was very exciting to watch don’t get me wrong

and I could deal with Cordy actually being Jasmine and all that

BUT

to have Cordelia sleep with Connor was FOUL. I don’t care that it wasn’t really her. It was still her body that was used and it’s just so gross!

Also killed my Cangel dreams. 😢

I loved them together

Buffy ended because Sarah Michelle Gellar was done. It had nothing to do with Joss. Angel ended did have to do with him, though. The WB was going to renew, but Joss pushed them to the point of annoyance, so they canceled.

Season 6 definitely deserves this revision because it's a fantastic season.

Season six, to me, broke the barriers from the demons metaphorically being life to life just existing. It was raw and real. There was no barrier between the demons and life. It just existed. Of course, Willow's descent into magical addiction was a metaphor for drug addiction, but it was still a raw and honest season, but I can see why people may not like it or connect with it.

Who wants a season 8 of Buffy? What I would’ve wanted was a better season 7.

This is recent & Buffy has been over for years so that drama they had was bound to recover. It was very known they weren’t exactly close during & shortly after the show.

I rather a stronger season 7 than a season 8. It was pretty clear the cast was done. and was not really that motivated anymore and ready to go on with thier careers. Especially Alyson and Sarah. Season 7 had potential with the idea of going back to sunnydale, but the Potential plot and Caleb Mess really felt rush and underwhelming.

Spoiler

The whole season could have been more focused on the Scooby Gang and thier development over the entire show. Using the First as a tool to draw out thier weaknesses as a team. Then the final battle should have been Buffy, Faith and Willow taking on hordes of ubervamps. They could have used a spell to depowered the vamps. Also Angel & Spike should have both been at the final battle. Having Angel just show up for a cameo was kinda pointless since he didn’t really do anything 💀😆 (yeah I know the amulet, but even that was kinda messy. Making Spine Sacrifice himself to save the day goes against the whole point of the show. A male Vampire Saving the day instead of Buffy😭) at least have team Angel join in the fight for the Hellmouth. Like so many missed opportunities and characters moment’s because the potentials and Caleb

She really embodies all the qualities of a TV actor. There really is a few actors that have been able to fully embodies the character they play. It helps that no matter the quality of a season or an episode, Buffy was 99% very well written and relatable and Sarah fully understood what to play and where her path was taking her. That scene, incredible, of course showcases Sarah's talent for selling it but it's the way it makes total sense for Buffy and her to be there in season 6. With the drama we know now, the hours she put in, the distance for the main cast, there is so much layer to Buffy starting season 6.

Season 7 is undoubtedly the worst season of Buffy.
