Wrecked Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I love every season but S3, S5 and S6 are the holy trinity.

GraceRandolph Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Buffy is the only regular character I like for the entirety of the shows run. Xander became stale after season 3, Giles and Spike overstayed their welcome, and Selfless would’ve been a better conclusion to Anya’s story than what they went with.

Plus, the second season had a few filler episodes that just... did not need to exist.

Wrecked Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Do we all agree that S3 was the most consistent season in terms of absolute slayage? I mean, there isn’t a single dud and there’s so many highlights.
sunbathinganimal Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 just finished Seeing Red and what the actual **** is S6

So sorry we did not protect you. We couldn't. Two words. So simplistic. Yet so hated and hurt. This changes everything. Enjoy the final ride of the season! sunbathinganimal Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 just finished S6 there were some episodes I hated and a lot of strange ideas thrown at the wall but I get what it was going for and appreciate that it did something different
sunbathinganimal Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 also Giles showing up at the end of the second last episode was one of my fav moments from the entire series

That sounds like season six. I shiver thinking what the season would've been on The WB. 12 minutes ago, sunbathinganimal said: also Giles showing up at the end of the second last episode was one of my fav moments from the entire series OMFG YES! Imagine having to wait a commercial break to see what happened next!! He really tested his theory, showed up with his beer and said, "Hold this".

The WB would have glossed over what Buffy went through in Heaven similar to how they glossed over what Angel went through in the Hell dimension in season 3.

Season 1-5 while iconic and epic I truly think s6 was the most innovative of the series.

Venom Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I'm currently on a re-watch and I'm on season 4 of Buffy/season 1 of Angel. But it has me wondering of the original ideas and how things would have turned out. For Angel, I guess Doyle wasn't meant to die right away but of course I understand the reasons he was written off the show. But it makes me wonder what his original plot was meant to be? I read that he was going to die either way but probably as a season 1 finale thing and then Wesley introduced in the second season. Then there's Kate. Since this is my re-watch, I know she's going to just stop appearing soon, but I guess she was meant to be a Big Bad alongside Holtz in season 3 which just sounds intriguing AF. Then there's Oz on Buffy who went nowhere. Seth Green left the show but I guess Oz would have finally had a storyline in season 4 with Veruca and other wolves. It would have been interesting to see Oz finally get a storyline but honestly, wolves are boring so I'm glad we didn't get it. But we got stuck with The Initiative which isn't any better. I guess season 4 was also meant to have some Evil Scientist(Walsh)/Frankenstein(Adam) type of plot but Walsh's actress decided not to come back. I also keep wondering what would have happened to Angel and Cordelia on Buffy if Angel didn't get picked up by the network. I'd love to think Cordelia would have been part of the gang but I honestly don't see it. In fact, if Cordelia stayed on Buffy, I think she would have probably gotten Harmony's storyline. Killed at graduation and a vampire in season 4. I would have hated it though, especially if she was written as ditzy as Harmony but I also don't see her being as evil as Drusilla but who knows. As for Angel, I really don't think he'd inherit Spike's storyline of being captured, but I don't see him fitting in this season at all, so I'm glad he and Cordelia got their own show. Anyways, I'm dreading eventually getting to season 4 of Angel because out of any Buffyverse season, that one hurts my feelings the most!
GraceRandolph Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Season 4 was a serve. I don’t get the hate. Season 1, 6, and 7 are definitely the low points.
