Buffy the Vampire Slayer + Angel (aka Buffyverse)

Most of the hate just didn’t make sense to me and I felt like people were too hard on her given the circumstances. She was 14 and had to deal with her sister being a slayer, which could lead her to feel insecure about her own worth. She then finds out she’s not technically real and then her mother passes away. Taking everything into account, she handled everything so well. I was AWFUL at the age of 14 as I was so hormonal and depressed all the time.

I think people forget that in S7 Dawn was 16, which is the same age Buffy was during S1 and and if you compare them both at that age, Dawn was a lot more mature than Buffy was.

The issue was Dawn was written to be younger than 14 and Michelle Trachtenberg played her that way it wasn't until season 6 & 7 where Michelle played Dawn similar to the age she was.

I did read that she was originally written to be 11 years old but I still don’t think that Dawn comes across as abnormally immature for a 14 year old, especially when she’s babied by Joyce (which Joyce probably feels inclined to do with Buffy being a slayer) - I can just remember how hormonal and angry I could be at that age, so I never saw her outbursts as ‘annoying’ like some other people did.

Season 6 will always be a highlight for me because I’m somebody who has dealt with depression and addiction and to some degree, still do. So seeing my hero struggling with similar things and being able to overcome them was always something I needed to see. That season felt like therapy at times, in the best way possible. I can see why some people found it too dark, but that wasn’t dark to me, it was my life. It also would have been a huge slap in the face to us fans if Buffy just came back from the dead like nothing had happened.

hope you're fully supported in your recovery road

I agree with you, I was very depressed especially as a teen and Buffy S6 was my own therapy... and yes I didn't find it too dark tbh, it was normal for her to act this way just like I found it natural that Willow went through addiction and they portrayed it well

had Buffy come back as if nothing happened... people would have called it out

Buffy and Dawn crawling out of the grave at the end of "Grave" is one of the most beautiful moments in the series.

Connor wasn’t my cup of tea at all. I’ve seen some people hate on Dawn (which I don’t understand) but I completely agree with the Connor hate. 😅

Connor ruined Angel. He was an annoying brat, worse than Dawn.

That scene was great for both Dawn and Xander as it allowed the audience to really step behind the curtains with their characters and show us how being friends with people who are constantly seen as ‘powerful’ could make you feel bad about yourself. That entire episode is also highly Dawn-centric.

I think it’s unfair to Dawn to say her only memorable moment from S7 is her kicking Buffy out of the house. She has some great moments like her scenes with Joyce in Conversations With Dead People and the entire episode of Potential.

Unless you just have some weird hatred for Michelle Trachtenberg, I don’t know how you can’t see that Dawn had multiple memorable moments in every season she was part of. :gaycat5:

I was rooting for Dark Willow to come back and turn that nasty b*tch back into mystical energy after this.

out of curiosity, episodes where buffy is not the person who talks the most:

https://gabrielleabelle.livejournal.com/303063.html

S1

Out of Mind Out of Sight (Cordelia)

S2

BB&B (Xander)

S3

Lovers Walk (Spike)

Zeppo (Xander, then Giles)

Doppelgangland (Willow)

S4

Beer Bad (Xander)

Wild at Heart (Oz, then Willow)

The Initiative (Riley, then Willow)

A New Man (Giles)

Who Are You (technically Faith, but played by Sarah so)

Where the Wild Things Are (Xander; Buffy barely talks since she spends most of the time in bed)

New Moon Rising (Willow)

S5

The Replacement (Xander)

Fool for Love (Spike)

Triangle (Anya)

Forever (Dawn)

Tough Love, Weight of the World (Willow)

S6

Bargaining One (Willow)

Bargaining Two (Xander) - Buffy has minimal lines in both.

After Life (Willow, then Dawn)

Hell's Bells (Xander, then Anya)

Entropy (Anya)

Villains (Willow)

Two to Go (Willow + Xander)

Grave (Willow)

S7

Selfless (Anya)

Potential (Dawn)

Killer in Me (Willow)

Lies My Parents Told Me (Spike, then Giles)

Dirty Girls (Faith)

Touched (Faith, then Spike)

Definitely a lot more frequent after high school.

Spike, Anya 3

Faith 2-3

Dawn 2

Cordelia, Riley, Oz, Giles 1

Angel, Tara 0

Radio Sunnydale had some beautiful music. Shame "I'll Be His Misses" wasn't on it, though.

Yeah, it’s a shame we never got that. I also wish that this would have been put on a soundtrack:

I love when this plays during Never Kill a Boy On the First Date.

I still can’t believe that Ringer was her big comeback to television. What a travesty!
