Season 6 will always be a highlight for me because I’m somebody who has dealt with depression and addiction and to some degree, still do. So seeing my hero struggling with similar things and being able to overcome them was always something I needed to see. That season felt like therapy at times, in the best way possible. I can see why some people found it too dark, but that wasn’t dark to me, it was my life. It also would have been a huge slap in the face to us fans if Buffy just came back from the dead like nothing had happened.

Speaking of season 6 why isn't Buffy dancing on fire in the musical seen as a suicide attempt in the show?

When wasn't it? Spike legitimately sings to her she has to go on living so one of them is living, hinting that life was more than the moment she was singing about.

Once More with Feeling and Tabula Rasa are both 10/10 episodes.

Anya’s bunny song ruined OMWF tbh.

I hate how they never replaced the magic shop set after it was destroyed at the end of season 6 so season 7 pretty much only takes place in Buffy’s house. Buffy’s house just wasn’t as iconic as Charmed’s Halliwell Manor to justify so many scenes there.

It's iconic.

It’s kind of obvious Joss loved Alyson. Willow went from a computer nerd to being super overpowered to the point that it made Buffy redundant. Dark Willow was still iconic though.

Spuffy outsold the corny Bangel arc, and was the most interesting storyline in the later seasons.

I have never read someone posting so many wrong things, one after the other, consecutively, in a row.

First. Why would they restore the Magic Shop if Giles was in England rehabbing Willow and Anya was a full vengeance demon, there was no one to run the shop. Willow was stronger than Buffy for the last of Season 6 and after that, she became so self-aware of the magics that basically couldn't even do a simple spell without almost losing control right up until Chosen, how is that making Buffy redundant? Third, All the potential slayers were arriving at Buffy's place, what other set besides the cemetery and high school did you want them to use?

And lastly, Anya's Bunny song is very much iconic, get on with the program babe xx

Willow was more powerful than Buffy from like late season four until her Dark Willow arc, they then had to come up with an excuse to depower her because they’d written themselves into a hole by making her so Godlike. Buffy’s slayer abilities paled in comparison to season 6 Willow.

The show needed a new set for season 7 besides Buffy’s house. Seasons 1-3 had the library, 4 had dorms and Giles’ apartment, 5-6 had the magic shop. Season 7 lacked that.

Buffy's slayer abilities paled in comparison to:

The Master

The Major in final form

Adam

Glory

Dark Willow

The First Evil

Every single main villain with the exception of Angel was stronger than Buffy and yet she found herself winning every single time which makes the whole thing impressive. Willow was powerful, a standard witch powerful right up until Seeing Red and yet she wasn't even on Glory's level of power, she was essentially being driven by rage, and that stopped when Xander pal chatted with her in Grave.

Season 7 had plenty of outdoor scenes at the beginning, but it only started to focus on Buffy's house after the potentials arrived at Buffy's house and that was after the 10th episode. There wasn't really a need for a new set only for a few episodes left, especially when the final battle was gonna take place in the Hellmouth, had there been more seasons after Season 7 I'd agree with your argument that another main set was needed but right up until that point, the whole purpose was there wasn't another place for Buffy to keep the slayers safe but her house, which makes everything more complicated and kinda fits the narrative that she wasn't prepared enough to face the first with a bunch of teenage girls.

I have never and I mean NEVER in all my years of being a Buffy stan seen somebody say they didn’t like Anya’s part in I've Got a Theory/Bunnies/If We're Together.

If anything, her part is one of the most quoted parts. I also don’t have enough mental energy today to delve into that Buffy / Willow nonsense. :rip:

It's honestly my favorite part of I've Got a Theory. Emma Caufield sang it so passionately

…or maybe midgets?

Emma is such an underrated comedic actress, she was one of my favourite parts of Buffy. I was sad when Cordelia left after S3 because she provided such great comedic relief, but Anya really filled that void. I still audibly laugh at “….Willow’s a demon?!” :deadbanana:

the Anya and Giles scenes were the best part of Tabula Rasa imo.

I loved their parts but that entire episode is fantastic and I’d struggle to pick my favourite part. That episode really was Buffy in a nutshell as it had humour, action and heartbreak. The whole Randy Giles scene was gold! :bibliahh:

I think I’m either going to start my rewatch today or tomorrow. “What is your childhood trauma?!”

I’ve never watched Buffy and Angel side by side before which is quite shocking, but I can never be bothered to keep changing my DVD after watching a single episode. Both shows are on Disney Plus for me, but I can’t watch that dreadful Buffy ‘remaster’ :biblio:

I only do this when I watch on Hulu. Plus imo it makes viewing Buffy a lot more rewarding if you watch Angel as well. Faith's redemption story line on Angel is one of the franchise's best story lines imo

I agree about the Faith redemption arc and her episodes in Angel are some of my favourite episodes out of both shows. I just naturally crave to watch Buffy more than I do Angel.

Buffy Season 4 and Season 1 of Angel had some of the show's best crossovers.

The Angel S2 finale gives me chills when they come home to find Willow waiting. :chick3:

Overall, I prefer Buffy, but I think Angel had better cinematography and it did have some amazing episodes and story arcs. I also thought some of the demons in Angel were genuinely creepy AF. :rip:

Connor wasn’t my cup of tea at all. I’ve seen some people hate on Dawn (which I don’t understand) but I completely agree with the Connor hate. 😅

I think people have calmed down on the Dawn hate compared to how bad it was when the show was airing.

Most of the hate just didn’t make sense to me and I felt like people were too hard on her given the circumstances. She was 14 and had to deal with her sister being a slayer, which could lead her to feel insecure about her own worth. She then finds out she’s not technically real and then her mother passes away. Taking everything into account, she handled everything so well. I was AWFUL at the age of 14 as I was so hormonal and depressed all the time.

I think people forget that in S7 Dawn was 16, which is the same age Buffy was during S1 and and if you compare them both at that age, Dawn was a lot more mature than Buffy was.
