Because, yes, on the surface a lot of the things with The Trio are… not good.

Eros Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) i think over all i like s6 but i will also always harbor resentment for it because of ep 17, the ep that almost made me drop buffy altogether lol. i hated how much sense it all made and ruined some of the mysticism for me for a bit lmao Edited April 3, 2023 by Eros
sunbathinganimal Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 without spoilers, what’s the fanbase’s general opinion on Buffy/Spike? so far it feels kinda icky to me and not in a sexy way

I understood it, it's also Buffy's real time getting herself into a very toxic relationship my best friend watched Spoiler The Body for the first time and she called it one of the best episode of all time and called Sarah brilliant

Buffy Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) Season 6 made a lot of sense and was very realistic. Spoiler Buffy was snatched out of heaven and brought back to a hellish and broken world. This was very traumatic, something that none of her friends could understand. The closest person she felt she could share her experience with was Spike who was soulless. Imagine being ripped out of heaven, a peaceful plane of existence, where she was a spiritual being and then being put back into a body again. She was literally in shock. That entire experience changes a person. On top of that, she had to assume the “mom” role with Dawn, get back into school which she was denied, then jump right into working (a fast food place that was super beneath her) to pay the bills for a house she couldn’t even afford. Season 6 demonstrated Buffy as both damaged goods AND an adult in the real world. The trio were the worst villains of the series but that’s real life. Humans are monsters. Other very realistic storylines: Anya & Xander break up. Willow’s addiction Rape etc These are all very real things and hard things that happen. The writers were brave to introduce these heavy topics. Season 6 gets better with age. It is better than Season 4 & 7 combined. Edited April 10, 2023 by Buffy

Wrecked Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Season 6 will always be a highlight for me because I’m somebody who has dealt with depression and addiction and to some degree, still do. So seeing my hero struggling with similar things and being able to overcome them was always something I needed to see. That season felt like therapy at times, in the best way possible. I can see why some people found it too dark, but that wasn’t dark to me, it was my life. It also would have been a huge slap in the face to us fans if Buffy just came back from the dead like nothing had happened.
