Yikes. Season 6 is one of the realistic seasons of the entire series. Probably the most relatable one as an adult (living pay check to pay check and being in a toxic relationship). Rape is part of the real world. All of the episodes are a metaphor for real life situations, so season 6 is no different than the other seasons. I gained a lot of appreciation for it as I got older. Season 7, however, SUCKS.

I loved season seven; I just hated the camera changes mid-way through the season as a way to save money.

You noticed that too? It's after Bring On the Night from Showtime to Lies My Parents Told Me.

Yeah. It went from the yellow-er camera that we'd had since season four and was a more white-framed camera. Likely swapped to cheaper cameras to save money in the end, and for the final two episodes, they swapped back to the original cameras.

I agree. The cinematography in S7 was bad :(… they made it look too gritty, grainy, and dark. I didn’t like how they filmed the episode with Faith & the potentials after Buffy got kicked out. It was so chaotic lol.  That season had a lot of potential. I will say that Season 7 made me ship Spuffy. If I had to choose, I’d choose Spike a thousand times over Angel. Spike protected and loved Buffy even in his soulless form. Angel is wack!

I didnt know they switched cameras to save money… I just thought it was an artistic choice. It was very distracting lol

After 6x19 I will never support Buffy with Spike. Ever. That ruined them for me. Permanently.

Yes… that was bad but he didn’t have a soul though. Angel is far worse!! He got her friends murdered. He’s the reason Jenny & Kendra died. And in his soulless form he is super malicious. Spike showed signs of humanity when he was soulless.

Spike was no different with a soul than without, in terms of how he overall was, because he wasn't cursed with his soul, like Angel was. He chose to have his soul restored. Angelus was a completely different person than Angel was. Per your own statement, Spike showed signs of humanity when he was soulless, and when he was soulless was when he did what he did (don't want to state it to avoid spoilers to some posters who are watching for the first time).

Angel > Spike any day of the damn week for me. Hell, I'd even choose Riley over Spike.

 I was going to say Riley was a good one for Buffy… he just didn’t have any super strength. There’s been one thing that’s always bothered me about Buffy & Riley.

Spoiler

In season 5 Buffy clearly tried to catch up to Riley before his helicopter took off. She wanted to be with him. But in Season 6, the writers made it seem as if she was only trying to catch up to him to say sorry. That irritated me so much because NO she was not just trying to apologize! That ruined her character/relationship with Riley for me and I blame that completely on the writers.

Angel was kinda like the teenager dream... but as an adult, I'm like super bored by him...

What Spike did... yeah no redemption from that but if Buffy did forgive him

Riley is a dead last, that man had such an inferiority complex

I liked Buffy & Riley, but Riley was a toxic male who couldn't handle not being the one to wear the pants in that relationship and, once Angel rolled into town, he started checking TF out.

Oh, I'm still in-love with Angel. STILL! And Buffy may have forgiven him... but I would never be able to. And no, Parker Abrams is last. That tool bag was a waste. I've always wondered if Ben hadn't been saddled with Glory if he and Buffy could've been something.

I don't consider a one night stand as actual boyfriend material

I thought Season 7 was the perfect way to end the show, really,

Although the overall storyline was a bit messy from the get-go, going back to Sunnydale High and fighting the first evil was brilliant, and honestly, Buffy turning all the potentials into slayers was the perfect ending nobody saw coming, the main issue is that the filler episodes were absolutely horrible lol, especially that one all the women fall in love with that average looking guy.

It's got great episodes and some not-so-good ones. Do you know what could've been amazing? Oz coming back to Sunnydale

Season 7 had potential but was poorly executed between the scriptwriters and the the decision to switch to budget cameras. :rip: It was all over the place. I only like a few episodes from it. The crossover episodes with Faith in Angel were amazing… they did a great job bringing her back to fight The Beast but they did her super dirty on Buffy. The quality with Faith’s character going from Angel to Buffy was a joke in my opinion.

i knew hush was the show's (and wb/cw/upn's) only major nom ever, with writing.

but i'd forgotten it was also the show's only cinematography nom. of course, in both categories it was up against the juggernauts west wing/sopranos.

it was very low budgety and annoying for several episodes of it.

Low-key Buffy was better off alone. None of her boyfriends were good for her but y’all ain’t ready for that conversation :giraffe:

that's why she explored women in the comics

Yeah, but that was very anti-climatic though, I remember when Sarah found out she thought she was hooking up with Willow :rip:

I mean it was never even implied in the show, she never showed any ounce of attraction for women unlike Willow

Yeah, that's why it felt so out of place IMO, but honestly, the comics felt very different from the show in many aspects.
