Student debt is something they'll never go through with, because it's what they like to use for campaigning promises... and student debt isn't going to do **** for most of the population anyways, lmao. Student debt affects 43 million americans.. wtf are u talking about. Just look at Fetterman in Pennsylvania running on decriminalizing and making weed legal. He won all counties and hes hammered that issue nonstop. It shows that people will come out to vote if u actually get **** done.

He doesn't have to do things for "most Americans", especially when many Americans fundamentally disagree with the core values of the political party he represents. This is the kind of golden mean fallacy centrism that plagues American political discourse. Decriminalization of weed, expunging all arrest records for weed-related charges and releasing people wrongfully in jail for weed is all something Biden can do without Congress. The same for forgiving all federally held student debt. And these things both disproportionately impact and are supported by the base of his political party. chessguy99
Biden can't legalize marijuana. Best he can do is recommend that it be removed from the controlled substance list, which would happen if he asked. And with that he only eliminates federal prosecutions. State laws for marijuana would still be enforced, and over half still don't allow recreational use. Only thing that can save Biden is a steadily improving economy. nick4bty
Are we just supposed to act like Clinton and Obama managed to turn the recession-ridden economies they inherited around in two years? It took both about 6 years to really get the economy back to good standing. I'm not sure why Democrats are turning on him so quickly when they fully supported Clinton and Obama in times that were just as bad, if not worse, than this. Sure, gas prices and the housing market are bad bad, and sure prices of goods are rising, but most of it is completely out of his control, and we're not even in a recession. He has plenty of time to fix this, but we need voters to actually be incentivized to vote in November. That's the problem unfortunately. Like others have said, best thing he can do before then is cancel student debt, decriminalize/legalize marijuana to the extent he can, and get Congress to pass gun legislation. If he can fulfill these promises, I think Democrats can get the votes they need in November. If they manage to keep the House and increase the lead in Senate, it's pretty much easy sailing to 2024. November is going to be so ******* crucial for the future of this country. Edited June 3, 2022 by nick4bty

Certainly not enough to get people to vote in large enough November. 27 minutes ago, nick4bty said: decriminalize/legalize marijuana to the extent he can He doesn't want to even do that. He believes in his heart of hearts that marijuana is a gateway drug that should be kept illegal. 28 minutes ago, nick4bty said: get Congress to pass gun legislation Republicans don't want to cooperate on anything else. Least of all the cause that one of their biggest donor groups exists for the purpose of opposing. This is fantasy. It will never happen without getting rid of the filibuster, which is something that Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, and even Joe Biden himself vehemently oppose.
