LeMésTragique Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Everything that portrays gays as feminine, skinny and delicate into music, fashion and art who are always looking for a hook up

I don't know, it plays out like a weird fantasy, 5 ethnically diverse fairies coming over for a few days and make all your problems go away! They tidy your house, they teach you how to dress, they domesticate their bumbling husband and empower the girl to rock that dress she's always wanted to wear (but is too scared). Then they go away leaving everything a little more fabulous than it was before. No thanks. Thank you for saying this. literally a weird straight fantasy of some harmless little tinkerbell maids 9 hours ago, Pierrot said: Irreversible still a great film though omg i had completely blocked that one out Edited May 21, 2022 by ☆lex

T.O.A.D.S. Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Heartstopper looks like a Wattpad fantasy/fairy tale written by a "Larry Stylinson" shipper.
Mr.Link Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Any movie in which a gay character is played by a “straight” actor who is only gay for the camera/awards. Brokeback Mountain, CMBYN and anything Harry Styles will ever do come to mind. Also, only like 5% of the movies in which the lead character is gay are not about “coming out”.

Shihhhh was wiiilllld OT: I'd like to mention Spanish soap operas (telenovelas) But the way the used to & still portray gay/Homosexual/LGBTQ+/Lebow(Home Depot lovers lol InSiDe jOkE) characters was/is super terrible. They're always super feminine, Hairdressers & etc or take part in some type of "Fem" position. Idk but it's super annoying the way that they act. Oh & god forbid they actually show a gay couple. They always pull some weird b.s where they turn away from them when they kiss or show each other some form of romantic physical affection. They treat it as if it's the grossest thing in the whole entire world.
Daddy Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I will focus on the T part of the LGBT cause those are still to this day the most damaging: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective from 1994. The big twist is that there's a transwoman that kissed Ace and he starts to throw up violently and it's so disgusting to witness. Jim tried to explain himself a few years ago and said the joke was on him because Aces reaction was so wildly over the top but that's not how the dumb straight public worked in the 90s (or still nowadays lol) Then Hitchcocks Psycho that portrayed the psychotic murderer as a cross-dressing weirdo. Might be the most damaging in movie history cause of its impact on society and how they viewed trans people. (They made no difference between trans, gender queer, cross dressing etc.) Same with Silence Of The Lambs and Buffalo Bill. Also anything with Adam Sandler, Steve Carell and Leslie Nielsen. Bottom of the barrel humor basically with the punchline being "Oh ****, she's got a *****!!!"

shinyshimmery Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 The early 2000s movies were full of gay jokes/ borderline homophobia. But one specific example that comes to mind is in Legally Blonde when Elle discovers Enrique is gay. It's used as a "bad" thing to villainize him. and movies catering to straight frat bros ala "the hangover"
Blade Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Surprised no one has mentioned Friends yet. Love the show but whew is it homophobic. Even with the Lesbian couple being recurring characters. 3 hours ago, shinyshimmery said: The early 2000s movies were full of gay jokes/ borderline homophobia. Genius1111 Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 The portrayal of the character Twink in Q-Force The other characters were fine, actually. The show would have been so much better if they had written Twink differently. _________ Cherry Magic with only one kiss between the two leads Adachi and Kurosawa. Some of us call it Cherryphobic for a reason. It is still a heartwarming show, nonetheless. _________ Any show where the male character declares he's not gay, but only has strong feelings for just that 1 guy. Such people do exist, I suppose, but it still makes me cringe when I watch it.

EdgeofTeeth Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Every movie/TV show that portrays gay characters as shallow, bitchy, emotionally narrow sex addicts always on the hunt for the next hookup or incapable of maintaining a healthy relationship. It genuinely makes me angry that this is still so common.
D_Man3379 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Squid Game easily. I mean having that being the only gay character on the show is distasteful.
Robert Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I hate stuff normalising predatory behaviour so CMBYN and QaF (referring to UK one as I haven’t seen the US one). Also SATC had horrible portrayal of bi and trans people.
