I don't think I can go through another pandemic. I might take really hard decisions if a pandemic of the level of COVID happens again. Being mentally ill and going through these things makes it almost unbearable to live. These last three days I've been in a paralyzing panic non stop and very extreme emotional pain. I'm taking like double the anxyolitics I've got prescribed a day to just be able to go on. I think COVID has caused myself emotional trauma and turned me into a big time catastrophobic and I have no idea about what to do about it.

Wait but you are the one keeping this thread level headed  Stay strong! I don't think this is going to become a new pandemic...I am pretty sure it is going to be short lived Just make sure to not have sex right now or other very close contact activities with others

The timing of this and it being linked to gays couldn't be worse with abortion being banned recently and the republicans gearing up to ban gay sex and marriage:dancehall:

This entire decade is just going to be a relentless shitshow.

I don’t think it’s fair to expect gays to not have any sex at all right now especially when the numbers are still really low, the advice should be more to limit your partners/encounters to 1 and practice safe sex.

Im being cautious but I’m still gonna meet a guy I really like from Bumble next week, I shouldn’t have to put my life on hold again (after 2 years of Covid) because a few cases.

I feel the same way sis but unfortunately we can’t live our lives in fear

I agree with you. It was specifically directed to him because of his high anxiety.

People in my country are rejoicing that it's a 'gay disease'. As if we needed more homophobia in the world. Sigh.

But if this spreads mostly through intimate contact this should require self isolation. Don the be scared.

OT: its it that hard to have sex with only people you know and trust? :rip:

It's always smart to use protection, but I don't see how a condom will protect you from this if the blisters are on other parts of the body and you touch it with your hands etc, I mean...

If it’s that easy to get then I think we would be seeing more cases in straight people, the strain currently spreading is behaving differently.

Of course not. Why would straight people be touching these blisters in gay people's private areas? That only happens if you sleep with someone and a condom won't protect you from that. Also, that festival in Belgium where some people seem to have gotten it hasn't been that long ago, so the first patients are only finding out now, most probably haven't infected anyone else yet or the ones they've infected aren't presenting yet

I thought you meant touching blisters in general not just on private areas :rip:

Still, if it transmits like that then all it takes is a few Bi men to transmit it to women and so on. We will see as it progresses and we have more data.

I know people who work in LGBT public health (gay men's health clinics and that sort of thing) and they've told me "down low" men are a lot of the cases of STDs they're seeing recently because they're not part of the mainstream gay community and closeted so they're not educated about HIV and STDs and the like, and they don't get tested regularly either, they only seek treatment once it's really obvious something is wrong. Be very careful when hooking up with those faceless "discreet and curious" profiles on Grindr.

Second case in the Netherlands confirmed. Anyone who's suspected of having it has to go into isolation until test result is back. If the result is positive, they have to isolate until the skin is fully healed. High risk contacts will be offered a vaccine, they'll have to quarantine, and they will be monitored to see if they develop symptoms, according to the news

I think they need to start a campaign of vaccination in gay men ASAP

Grindr and Scruff etc should also have automatic pop up messages about this warning people to be on the lookout for the symptoms when you log in, which they don't so far

They are dropping the ball IMO, they need to act quickly before pride season starts
