If given between 4–14 days after the date of exposure, vaccination MAY reduce the symptoms of disease, but MAY NOT prevent the disease.

How worrisome is this? This isn’t like Covid 2.0 is it?

No, it's not. At least not right now, it's not remotely close in terms of severity of symptoms, rate of spread, or risk of death.

It remains to be seen whether with increased spread it will strengthen in virality and symptoms.

I have a feeling that we will see less porn actors / OF actors active in the next 1-2 months…I cannot imagine what will happen when they start breaking out :rip:

Yeah. I thought it all was going too far. I don't mind people for doing OF and all that, but they have been getting too comfortable in sleeping around, and now we see what happens. Especially unprotected anal sex has always been very risky.

Ahh, I see. Thank you! Obviously will be taking precautions still by getting the vaccine and keeping sex to a minimum, but it's good to hear that it's not looking like another Covid situation at the moment.

For a healthy person the symptoms are way worse than Covid

And yet other STDs like HIV are now most prevalent in heterosexuals than homosexuals. There is no such thing as bad representation for diseases in our community. There is prejudice and there is not-- you are currently a part of that prejudice.

But the death rate is far lower and the spread is much slower right?

for a healthy fully vaccinated person (for Covid) the symptoms of monkeypox are worse than Covid.

But that absolutely is NOT the case with certain Covid strains with even a healthy young person that hasn't been vaccinated.

People have died from monkeypox recently but mostly in the context of improper access to emergency care.

As already posted, smallpox vaccines stopped being administered regularly in the U.S. in approx. 1974. I can't speak to other countries situations.

Monkey pox is not related to chicken pox. It is related to small pox (less deadly and contagious though)

You’re talking about new cases of HIV in the UK, right?
