fossora Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 This album is simply breathtaking…his best yet and definitely AOTY for me, an instant classic
JoeAg Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) so based on first listen last night, i like it a lot but i can tell it’s gonna be a grower over the next few months i know i’ll eventually LOVE it clear highlights on the first go around are Teeth, Pop Song (which i’ve loved since it was released as a single back in 2019), Ugly Season, and Hellbent! this is by far his most dense album, with the melodies feeling like they’re almost ready to fully reveal themselves. anyway, he’s brilliant and his evolution is consistently impressive to me Edited June 17, 2022 by JoeAg
Chemist Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 The incels at Rateyourmusic.com are STANNING. Someone compared it with Age of Adz and i think it's the best comparison. Such a massive leap towards the experimental and it worked. An artist
Haus Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 This is my first time listening to Eye in the Wall and

AndresVanDeKamp Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 No Shape was my album of the decade so he's certainly set himself up there, but I really enjoyed SMHOFI and it's clear he only plans to push himself further sonically and he's really just improving with each project - I just adore No Shape so much. I'm glad I knew what this "album" was going into it because I think otherwise it might have been a bit underwhelming. Knowing he wrote this to accompany a movement piece makes so much sense and the short film by Jacoby really sold the project as more of an audio-visual experience than JUST an album, which works if you aren't digging this as much as SMHOFI. Really interested to see where Mike takes his music next, and also how soon we might be in for another album! Since this was recorded before SMHOFI I could totally see him putting something out next year. Great addition to his discography but he doesn't make bad music so I'm not surprised. King!!!
fossora Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 AHHH IM OBSESSED W THISS! Nothing gets better and nothing is better than the 1-4 punch (Ugly Season/Eye In The Wall/Photograph/Hellbent) that Mike gave ussss
Goddxss Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Been excited for this project since 2019. He delivered something else, so emotional and beautiful.
Lucas32 Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 This sounds nothing like I expected but this has some stunning heights. One or two tracks I don't care for too much but when he gets it right he gets it ******* right. The Herem->Teeth-> Pop song 1-2-3 punch Eye in the wall and Photograph
TrueBlood Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 I appreciate this body of work for being extremely daring and experimental, but it’s definitely not my thing. It reminds me a lot of Aviary, but that album managed to stick with me a lot more with its melodies.
JoeAg Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 this has already grown on me so f*cking much in only 4ish days WHEW Teeth and Hellbent are masterpieces! Too Bright and SMHOFI have been tied as my fav album of his for awhile, but i can see this possibly overtaking both!
Wondy Lust Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 The album is nice, enjoy it much more than SMHOFI. Definitely feels like a grower for me though.
Venice B Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Currently listening for the first time and the first half of the album literally sounds like the intro of the Disturbia MV but over and over and over again
JoeAg Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 gahhhh this album is so f*cking amazing he literally does not miss I can tell I'm gonna be listening to this and digesting this for a SUPER long time! every track on here is stunning, someone should organize a discography rate for him tbh. more people on here deserve to discover this gay legend
AndresVanDeKamp Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Between this, Lykke’s EYEYE, and Ethel Cain’s Preacher’s Daughter for AOTY so far.
