Female artist need to step up there game or gp clearly is just not clicking with female pop music. you hear Twitter/Stan culture speak a lot about female artist but the streams/numbers are just not there. I am not sure what’s going on anymore. Maybe Taylor swift truly is the last super star. The fact is no female can compete with her even if they "step up their game". Apart from being a very talented artist Taylor is also a business woman and she understands everything about customer loyalty, which is something really important when you're selling a product. Taylor has been building this kind of loyalty with her fans since around Red was released over ten years ago, and album after album she's been giving them reasons to stay loyal and keep up with her. Nowadays the music industry is too focused on quick trends for artists to even build a proper fanbase. People will love your song and listen to it for a couple of weeks and then completely forget about you. Having a song with billion streams doesn't mean anything anymore. People don't stop long enough to pay attention to artists because they're already too focused on the next big thing, the next trend, the next smash hit. Taylor's success is the result of years of hard work and loyalty building. Most people who follow her and buy her music are the same who were buying it ten years ago. Of course she managed to get new fans as the years passed since she's really good at that, but I'm afraid no other pop girl can replicate the success she has today because it took YEARS for her to build the base she has today. And that's what we call a smart business woman.

(she can't surpass The Beatles, but the others should glue their wigs)

Using evermore, a surprise release abandoned after its first week and released so quick to folklore, as some kind of argument that she isn't currently at the top of the pack is just stupid when she's been the most consumed female artist every single day since the start of the year You can quite literally double the daily units of the closest female artist to Taylor and you would still not match her Using her recent releases is simply the most logical way to compare. If Taylor's label wasn't willling to push evermore that says more about Taylor than anyone else. Regardless, double Doja's discography size and you're still a large factor off being the same size as Taylor's. Obviously her 2 albums can't outstream the 4 albums Taylor has released recently, let alone the 6 she released before that. Like, it's not a sane comparison.

Planet Mars Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 Only men at this point. Drake, Bad Bunny etc. As far as longevity, only Drake.
RihFenty20 Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 No one. She's in a league by herself currently. Her fandom's pull is actually insane as they will buy and stream the music relentlessly. As another user has highlighted, she's built a type of branding of loyalty through her fans that have yet to be replicated and probably won't be for a while (I feel like Dua, Doja, Ari and Billie are the only new girls who can do it but they would need time in which Taylor will continue to do what she's done). Rihanna would've been her competition (as she has a similar pull with her fans, especially regarding streaming) but as we know she's used her fan power to sell panties, make up and shape the western world for generations to come.
