ConceptD Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 I got a MacBook Pro in 2018 and it still works just as well as it did the day I got it. They’re the longest lasting laptops I’ve ever had and I still get like 8 hours of battery out of a charge. It’s insane.
GaB Ciccone Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 A M1 Macbook is the way to go, apple truly made an amazing machine with their chips (They were great before)
MadonnasBoyfriend Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 (edited) No macs are for basics Edited May 17, 2022 by MadonnasBoyfriend
Wind-Up Bird Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Only the M1 Macs. Got a base Air a while before they released the M1 and it has been with me for 3 years so far. It heats up during online classes and if you're streaming or using Discord the Mac gets really really hot. The heat over the years probably damaged my battery and now it lasts about 4-5 hours of usage unplugged. Other than that, it works like magic and definitely a better experience compared to the MS Surface that I had before the Mac.
shelven Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 The M1 Macbooks are absolutely worth it. I've had an M1 Air for about a year and a half now and it's without a doubt the best computer I've ever owned (even better than my 2016 Pro I previously owned). And unlike a lot of other Apple products that come with the so-called "Apple tax", the base M1 Airs are priced quite competitively compared to PCs with similar performance. Unless you really want to be part of the Apple ecosystem, I probably wouldn't recommend getting a non-M1 Macbook, even if it's at a discount.
SugarfallB Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 i go along with everyone else praising the machine. I own the m1 macbook pro and its a pleasure to use
Hobbes Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Yep. I’ve had mine since 2015 and it still runs as quickly and efficiently as the day I got it. My ASUS (£300) that I owned before that lasted just over two years before getting too slow to use for work and no longer stays on without being plugged in. My MacBook even survived a huge spill back in 2018 — only one key on the keyboard was affected so I rerouted the keys using Karabiner. It’s ******* invincible.
TheBronxGirl Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) I have a pro and brought an air recently. My macbook pro battery died but it still works when the charger is left in lol. I think they have more lasting power but a cheaper laptop will still get the job done. I used to be windows only until I brought a mac though. It is up to you. Cheaper laptops are good. Dysmorphia Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I have a MacBook Pro 2019, Don't listen to the people who say only get an M1 Chip tbh, as mine has held up incredibly well. as long as its a MacBook post 2015, then yes they are definitely worth it.
Mellark Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 I had to buy one because of my summer remote work last year and I really like it. Get AppleCare+
