I just wanted to take a quick moment to acknowledge that while we're now at the halfway point of this tournament, it really does only feel like Golden Hit is just beginning. This experience has already been so rewarding and fun as a host-judge and I hope it has been wonderful for you all as well. fountain and I were really excited to bring back this format in a new way but certainly didn't anticipate this turnout or positive reception, and to still be having over twenty active participants four rounds in is amazing... I don't think ATRL has seen this much interest in a songwriting tournament since Song of the Season launched back in 2019. 

 

We're at the point of the tournament that every submission counts, so if you're undecided whether to submit for a particular round during the remainder of the tournament, I'd strongly suggest you submit something, even if you don't consider it your best. There's always the chance that the judges might disagree in your favour—see Jackson's entry this week! The title of Winner of Golden Hit is still anyone's to claim at this point seeing as the scores have been so close thus far; one really strong moment is all it might take to put you in serious contention. If that's something you're interested in, I'd strongly urge you to submit!

 

That brings me to the end of this mini mid-season morale booster. I can't wait for everyone to see what else we have in store for Golden Hit in the future... the journey may not be over as soon as one may think!

Corporations really be like “we’ll just list a bunch of pronouns on a shirt.” Gays don’t want shirts covered in pronouns, gays want shirts covered in Cate Blanchett’s face.

No for real... I feel like any shirt that only has words on it is generally awful and usually has an insanely corny phrase or some type of reference/meme/trend that will age poorly in a year or less. I actually have a theory that anti-LGBTQ+ companies make those shirts so it's easier for us to get targeted in the streets

I mean yeah, I really couldn’t care less about that stuff and I don’t really know why people do. Then again, you and I have been on this site for a while, I remember back in the day when I was younger I thought that stuff was entertaining but of course you eventually outgrow and mature. Ultimately if a song is good… it’s good… and anything else beyond that is irrelevant. Stan culture is just misery  but somehow still has a grip on people

Yup  It's definitely something you outgrow from eventually... for most. At this point I'm too old to be debating over someone else's successes & failures! How well an artist does or how their fanbase behaves has no impact on me.

My theory is that corporations don’t actually care about selling decent products and just want people walking in the store to see their tacky ass rainbow merch and pronoun shirts and be like “oh cool Target is inclusive.” 
 

And yeah I hate any sort of words on my clothing. Always have. The way I’ve been wearing mostly solid-color tees since middle school, with the occasional stripes or graphic design thrown in. My “I’m not a billboard, actually” phase started very young.
