considering the instrumentation for this week's song and I'm thinking I'll play guitar and upright bass with my singing, but for one of the coming weeks i want to whip out my autoharp cause I LOVE playing it  if only it didn't take like 20 minutes to tune properly lol

We had great chemistry in the studio and wrote a gorgeous song quickly. We kinda needed to do it quickly though because he had other things to do so he couldn't feature on the song alas. We promised we'd definitely collab sometime in the future!

The escapism is totally one of the best parts of writing. Honestly when I write I get in this zone where it’s like the world around me stops and it’s kinda lit.

Well it sounds like it’s not going too bad. I think for some people they like to write their entry early as soon as inspiration strikes, and then when they’re happy with it  they submit it as it is because otherwise they might just keep editing it and editing it and be stuck in a loop like that where they feel like it might never be finished. But if you’re content with it and more so just letting it sit there in case you want to refine it at all later, that sounds good!

Something I'm discovering is how easy it is to be consumed by a deadline.

 

What is the purpose of writing a song trying to finish it for a deadline if you're not enjoying yourself?

 

It is great to have a finished product at the end of the day and completing something can feel satisfying, it can make you feel accomplished at the end of it all which is great.

 

But, on the flipside, is opening your eyes when you reach the end of the rollercoaster ride worth it if you kept your eyes shut during it and missed the entire experience?

 

I think I'm starting to realise that enjoying the songwriting process means more to me than finishing the song. I think I find enjoying the journey a lot more satisfying than completing something. For me completing something if I am not enjoying it on my way there is not as worth it to me.

 

This might be an eye-opening revelation that could speak to someone else.
