some tracks really drag it down (Old Prostitute, Fat Girl, Ugly When I Cry and more) but it still is enjoyable and has her best song (Shades of Cool)

I never vibed with it, I remember being excited when the billboards came out but as the music treacled through it really wasn't my cup of tea, I don't understand the hype around it either. At least she's redeemed herself now.

Yes, it always has been.  It's carried by West Coast.  It just personified the tumblr aesthetic at the time so a lot of people got tricked.

 

First half would be a super cute EP though.

really? i personally found that it's quite consistent in quality though. would've been better if she cut down on tracks though, albums over an hour bore me. Black Beauty, Florida Kilos, and Old Money are great end of album tracks.

SG was always so underrated

PWIC is amazing

MPG is a bop, not amazing but never got why it's so hated

FMWUTTT is bland indeed, easily worst on the album 

OM is gorgeous

TOW an excellent closer 

 

Literally just one song that I would replace (with Black Beauty). We know too how many awesome outtakes there are that got cut for some reason. 

 

All in all, though, this is NOT a bad album in any meaning of the word. However, the worst part of UV is the lyrics and redundant choruses, I will admit. But the other aspects pick up for that

But yea, UV is easily her laziest written album lol 

 

She rarely knocks every single component out of the park: lyrics/word choice vs. song structure/melody vs. vocals/bg vocals vs. production/'vibe'. Her albums usually sacrifice one element in favor of (an)other(s) - like UV's lyrics.

 

Her lyrics have gotten better over time, but at the expense of more interest instrumentals. And COCC has really nice lyrics and beautiful vocals, but kind lacks on the production. IDK, just a thought.
