SupremeGoddess Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 The mental gymnastics the monsters go through after YEARS of constantly and consistently downplaying madonnas impact influence and success to make Gaga the queen of pop only for now it being a “simple title” lmao OT: she never had it

But… but… but born this way and artpop were the albums of the century and the millennium and the fame is the highest selling album of all time or whatever surely Gaga couldn’t have had such a decline right?
AxelFox Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 She was never in the run for the title to begin with. Like yeah she was the new cool thing in 2009 and kept some momentum into the first half of 2010 but she's been overshadowed by someone else ever since.
dabunique Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 she never had it and was never close now i see after wanting dat title and not bein able to get it she's now da queen of da entertainment industry where she's actually nowhere close to it lol what new title will they give her when da QOEI doesn't pan out her downfall was her huge debut era and not bein able to top it @Jjangjus like u sis i was a former stan but her bs turn me all da way off now compare a true hitmaker like Rihanna to Madonna (and fortunately i stan both so i win regardless)

When she was Gaga's age she was STILL doing panned VMAs stripper mom performances to bombs that scraped platinum in the US. Gaga was on Grammys singing an entire different genre, winning a pop traditonal grammy and being there with an AOTY nod. Every career is different. Gaga moves forward, she moves forward with ups and downs. She has more variety in her career vs. just having pop singles. Monsters look forward to her stadium date tour and another soundtrack song with hans zimmer! She has 6 single IFPI entires, her last entry being in 2019, first one 2009, I'd say she is consistent

They’re still completely ignoring reality pretending like it doesn’t exist and/or living in the past. It’s like a sitcom watching the latest LM exploits play out.

Achilles. Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 When Rolling Stone did their “queens of pop” ranking in 2011, based on success from 2009 to 2011, Gaga came out on top. Taylor was in second place, and probably managed to surpass Gaga during the Red era; using their methodology, she’s basically been on top ever since (even during reputation she would’ve been #1 in albums and touring, which probably would’ve been enough to fend off any challengers). So I’d say Gaga lost the top spot in 2012, which works even just in terms of perception, she was on an obvious decline by the tail end of the Born This Way era. Queen of Pop is always going to be Madonna’s title. Some artists are lucky enough to have their own, though. Not just anyone can be Academy Award winner Lady Gaga, or The Music Industry!
Jay07 Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 She had a misfire with ARTPOP and instead of sticking to her guns, she decided to pivot to making music music for soccer moms and begging for approval from the Hollywood establishment. She changed from a rebel to the most boring, conventional showbusiness stereotype in the blink of an eye which makes me wonder how genuine her disruptor image was to begin with. Oh well, at least she gets to go onstage at the Oscars with Liza Minelli and beg for awards I guess.

She has 6 single IFPI entires, her last entry being in 2019, first one 2009, I'd say she is consistent I mean, you literally said she would be having Xtine level success if she continued with pop so I don't think her pivoting to jazz out of necessity is such a flex. Also, calling another woman a stripper for going onstage in a bikini is flagrantly misogynistic. I bet you were yassing when Gaga was prancing around in her underwear covered in blood but now that she's wearing boring gowns and acting as nurse to Hollywood geriatrics suddenly pop is too lowbrow and pop girls are strippers.
Papa Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 She is not the queen of pop because that is just one lane, she is the queen of the entertainment industry, she mastered many lanes when others were forced to stick to only one
Bang Up Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 It's 2022. Time to live in the present where Lady Gaga is the only big popstar who is beloved and respected in both acting and music.

Its called being versatile. She was able to use her talent and produce a second peak, an album which sold 10m CSPS ww and a ballad song that is the longest charting song in Switzerland, france, UK... all in her tenth year. Dance was done unfortunately for forum users on atrl, so she changed it up. Oh lets not forget the Oscar ! Edited April 21, 2022 by Mr. Stratus
Joyride Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 I think she never really got that title. Pop icon? yes.
Mr. Stratus Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Looks like an acclaimed versatile legend career to me

Rev8 Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Why did this thread turn into another Army vs LMs it's funny since a lot of the members attacking Gaga, weren't even Britney stans and the OP is literally an Xtina stan
youkneekorn Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 She wished to become Queen of Pop but she never even came close. Her career was a flash in the pan (2009) that fizzled out quickly.
