BlackStar_93 Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I think it's a complex issue/conversation. To me, asking which profession a male who happens to be gay would excel in is the same as asking "what jobs do people excel in?". I think that trying to align gay men with particular professions is problematic because we're all people with diverse interests, talents, skills, etc. I personally don't believe there's a correlation between sexuality and profession, and if there is statistically some kind of pattern, it's either coincidental or a result of sociological influence. Of course, we all know the stereotypes (hairdresser, flight attendant, fashion, etc). but I think that poses bigger questions about representation in other career fields. Maybe it's because some professions are so dominated by cis heterosexual males (for example, engineering) that underrepresented/oppressed people in society don't feel they're able to go down those paths. I don't know, but it's an interesting conversation to be had.
