The amount of money they threw at radio and TikTok over something as insipid as this is insane. Not everything is about payola its doing well in Digital Sales as well Lizzo just appeals to a wide demo ____________________________________ Gay Pride is coming. ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Clarksonator Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 (edited) You can’t payola a song to the top of Spotify. Isn’t its playlisting piss poor too? Glad the song is responding well to promo! Something is clicking with the GP, as it should. Edited May 2, 2022 by Clarksonator
Jared Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 I'm so happy that she's on the verge of getting another smash. So many people wrote her off as a 2 hit wonder and look at her now.

With this smashing I hope they realize we don't want any Rumor-esque edgy type songs, the GP said we want feel good bops. As someone said, her voice + these type of songs make her appeal to a wide range of people. As long as she brings the good material, I think she will be successful.

Lizzo’s brand is feel god bops, funky, and the occasional power-ballad. Lizzo is a bit edgy which makes her pop songs good, but rumors was way too edgy (and Cardi was a contributor to that). Also, this ain’t payola. Lizzo has like no play-listing on Spotify. That’s the opposite of Payola and it’s just doing okay on Tiktok. I think this isn’t even that amazing of a growth to be considered payola anyways. Y’all acting like it’s doing 1m in the US alone out of the blue. Edited May 2, 2022 by Flare
Sanmode11 Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 This song is everywhere on TikTok, not surprised it’s smashing

Maybe they payed for Tik Tok ads which gave the song exposure and people began to know lizo had a new song out , they streamed, they liked it and they streamed again. That ain't payola. Many people don't even follow release days... It's only Stans.

Y’all acting like it’s doing 1m in the US alone out of the blue. It gained 600k streams in 2 days bc of a handful of tiktoks. That doesn’t mean it’s payola but you can’t say ‘that it looks completely normal, how could anyone ever think that is strange?!’ Spotify US 4/26: #115 (272,000) 4/1: #7 (644,000) - would be #4 without future album bomb I mean come on….. you can’t deny that It is out of the blue. However, they aren’t buying streams so whatever promo they did on TikTok (which we have no proof if they even did) worked and that’s great! Ain’t nothing wrong with promoting your work. It’s quite literally her labels job Edited May 2, 2022 by Khamis
Drowned8World Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 it's catchy as hell. I can't stop listening to it since this friday. 80s funky is still alive and well it seems. I thought it died like 4 years ago.
Crank_It_Up Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I’m impressed. It’s really catching on like wildfire. On TikTok, the sound was at 32k this morning when I woke up (9 am) and it’s at 47k right now. Basically 15k new video with the sound in 10 hours.
TalkThatRihanna Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The harmonies in the 2nd part of the chorus Just when ATRL was so happy she was over she gets this smash And the fact that Max Martin is all over the album
Popboi. Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The song just needed exposure, don't be so dramatic y'all
