You might be surprised how big you’ll look once you lean out more - I lost about 10-15lbs when I cut this spring and everyone says I look bigger now than I did then

Yes, I did look pretty big when I did my last cut. Just wish I would have gained more slowly so I could have not had to cut for another year or so.

I finally got to 300 on bench, 495 on deadlift and 435 for squat :duca:

I’ve been really focusing on form and full range of motion, and it’s gotten so hard but the results have been worth it. No joke, form over everything.

What protein powder do y'all like? I love this iso from my local supplement store that makes it homemade but I wanna explore other options. Also considering making homemade flavours with unflavoured powder from Amazon

I just got back into the gym this past weekend after over a month of being away, which is virtually forever for me, and it finally all hit me today. Today's the most tired I've been in so long. :toofunny2: I do love how sore I feel, though; I forgot how much I really did love this feeling.

Did 3 reps of 275lb on bench the other day. I was just trying to match my old PR and had enough in the tank for 3 reps :jonnycat:

I’m about to get a membership to the only gym in my city with a pool. Hopefully swimming a few times a week will help me slim down a bit

I get the Optum powder from Costco when it goes on sale. I don't care about taste, so I buy purely based on price/oz.

My friend swears by SEEQ and says it's the most delicious protein powder she's ever had.

I know this thread is fairly inactive but I figured I'd ask for some insight just in case. Also, it's so overwhelming trying to find a general consensus online so sometimes I gravitate toward anecdotal perspectives even though I understand everyone is built and affected differently.

Okay, so I love cardio (running and walking mostly) could do it all the time and am finally back to the endurance I had years ago where I can comfortably run 10-12 miles, and I've lost a considerable amount of weight that I gained over COVID. Currently around 152lbs depending on the day. Abs are just starting to kind of sort of show up if you squint (which is new for me) :ducky:

I'm trying to do more ab exercises now as I've neglected them and other muscles groups. Cardio was really the only thing I enjoyed and could feel motivated to do, but now I'm trying to pivot to a more holistic exercise regimen. I finally feel like mentally I'm in a place to do that without crashing and burning lol.

Anyway, for now I just wanted to ask what people recommend as an ab routine for a beginner close to intermediate. And also if there are nutrition plans anyone abides by. I know diet is huge in terms of lowering body fat percentage (and the whole abs are revealed in the kitchen saying.) I feel like most of what I've seen online recommends foods in a broad sense but if anyone has something more specific that works for them (meal prep, recipes, etc.) I'd be interested!

TY for bumping this thread to take notes again :lakitu:

I completed my second month of clean eating, slimmed down from almost 160 now down to about 145. My "Clean eating" is based off my personal choice of not eating any wheat/gluten, white rice, high sugars, alcohol & dairy (it's total hell at first) but the payoff is so worth it(no more cracking joints + boosted energy)! Buckwheat & Sea Moss have remained staples in my diet along with higher greens/veggies & natural fibrous foods (Oat Bran, multigrain rice, Dragon fruit, Buckwheat cereal/noodles) so I'm now excited to build up from here with a committed workout regime; striving to stun this holiday season/new year at the beach

So after I gained weight from my little...drunken summer moments...I got addicted to pizza. :skull:

170 pounds now. I'm 5'7 (yeah I'm pretty short) so this is not good.

It's all because I was unemployed for so many months, basically lost all my drive.

Welp time for a boot camp on my ass.

Something fun I like to do is put on a video of one of Madonna's tour shows and dance with her for the entire show.

Got into my lazy pizza era 2 months ago. Last week I could only run HALF of what I usually do. Actually scary how fast physical health can deteriorate.

Today is my second day working out! The other day I did 1 hour of arms and today legs :bird: I just need to be consistent and separate my workouts for each part of my body but don’t know how.

hey bros I have 2 questions

1) I'm worried I'm doing dead lifts wrong so I thought about doing it with dumbbels for now instead and then switch to heavy weight when I'm more confident in my form. good idea right?

2) one trainer says carbs before training for energy, the other that after is better. So which y'all think is better?

I started going to gym this January, after literal years of dreading it and thinking it's not for me. It's been really great, I work out consistently 2-3 times a week now and honestly, I'm already seeing some results, it feels really rewarding :bird: a friend of mine noticed and told me that I can start wearing slim fit shirts now :jonny:

I'm thinking of starting eating healthy but I love chocolate too much and it's not like I'm eating junk food every day so idk

On deadlifts I'd try practicing form with the empty barbell. It's essentially the same exercise with dumbbells but it's better to practice with the barbell if that's what the eventual aim is. When I started I always did it next to a mirror so I could check my back was straight and not bent.

I'm not a big believer in timing calories or macros tbh. I think it's a very individual thing. Try both and see what works best for you. I personally prefer not eating directly before and then having a big meal afterwards.

That's really great to hear!

I think sometimes people rush to change everything at once. It's good you've built up consistency with workouts, and you didn't try changing your diet straight away.

I personally eat mostly healthily but I do have a pretty sweet tooth. Some cake every now and then isn't going to kill you. And even if it does, I'd rather live til 80 having been able to eat chocolate than live til 85 on a super strict diet.
