DamianSolo Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 I just had to admire myself in the mirror this morning. This workout regimen I've been on looks good on me. I'm going to be doubling down on it, adding more cardio to my workouts. I'm still curious to see how these amino acids help with my progress.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted January 1, 2024 ATRL Moderator Posted January 1, 2024 Make sure to take progress photos. Mentally, I feel like I look the exact same I did three years ago even though I am 30lbs heavier than that. If it wasn't for photos, I'd have a harder time digesting the change I've made. Β Β 1

Goaty Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) Creatine does not have any effect your hair. IDK where this myth started but there's no truth to it. Β Here isΒ a great article that goes through common creatine misconceptions.Β Edited January 1, 2024 by Goaty 3
Cesar Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 how did you guys figure how ur stretching routine before workouts? do you do the same one every single time, or do you change it up depending on the muscle your working out that day?

I have stretches for upper body and stretches for lower body - I do one or the other (or both) depending on which groups I'm targeting that day.Β Β Honestly I doubt my stretching is optimal but so far it's prevented injury and the days I've rushed through them (or skipped them entirely) are the days I've injured myself.

Ms. Togekiss Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 What are some supplements someone on a weight loss journey should take? Iβve read tons of articles and IG thottiesβ posts () and they claim taking collagen (which makes sense for loose skin) and creatine is good. Iβd taking creatine a good idea if Iβm not bulking up? And what are the side effects of it? Iβm scared of taking any sort of supplements bc I donβt want to mess up my liver and /or kidneys. Β Also, is losing 30 pounds in 6 months doable? I want to get down to the lightest Iβve been since Covid hit and I gained all that weight. I just want to have a realistic goal to aim for and once I reach that Iβll set another goalΒ
Relampago. Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Iβm just reposting here since itβs applicable: Β Iβve been finally feeling really comfortable with my body and feel like I reached a place where now I can just workout my hardest/follow a meal plan and still be happy with wherever Iβm at currently. My goal is to improve but I donβt have a specific goal anymore and it feels kinda nice.Β 2

I want to get down to the lightest Iβve been since Covid hit and I gained all that weight. I just want to have a realistic goal to aim for and once I reach that Iβll set another goalΒ I donβt think there are really any supplements thatβll help with weight loss to my knowledge. Fat burners are a scam and can mess with blood pressure, without any solid proof that those things actually work. Thereβs energy drinks like Celsius that claim to enhance metabolism but Iβm skeptical of those too.Β Β Cutting carbs (Keto) is a quick way to lose weight fast and it genuinely works. The issue with it is that itβs not really sustainable over a long period of time, but it can work in the short term. Fasted cardio is something else that can help burn fat quickly as well. Β Creatine will help with size and endurance at the gym but wonβt burn fat or contribute to weight loss/gain outside of retaining water in the muscles and gaining muscle from training harder. It can certainly help with doing high volume workouts (more helpful for burning fat than heavy weight) since creatine can help with muscular endurance for the larger amount of reps. Β Overall, as long as youβre doing cardio/working out 4-6 times a week (depending on what works for you and your body!), eating a low carb diet with a calorie deficit for your size, youβll lose the weight. I would say losing 30 pounds in 6 months is certainly possible if youβre consistent and serious about it, but I would stress that itβs far more important to keep yourself going to the gym and going with the intent of doing your best, whatever that may be that day, and sticking with it. That will get you results no matter what, and even if you donβt get to 30 pounds of weight loss in 6 months, youβll still be super happy that you lost 25 or 15 just cause you know youβre working hard at it.

Β I usually hover around 18-15% body fat and can cut down to around 12% before I canβt mentally take the cut anymore and give up on it.Β

Β I usually hover around 18-15% body fat and can cut down to around 12% before I canβt mentally take the cut anymore and give up on it.Β Thank you sis! Β Β I honestly focus on doing a lean bulk rather than trying to keep a cut going for a long time. I typically sit around 10-14% body fat doing that, because like you said, cuts are just way too taxing and honestly unsustainable.Β Β I look to the rule of 1 gram of protein per pound and follow that pretty regularly. Depending on whether Iβm cutting or lean bulking, Iβll adjust my fats and carbs. If Iβm cutting Iβll do about 75% of my protein intake for fats and cut carbs all the way down to around 20-30% of my protein goal. Sometimes if I want faster results I cut carbs down to 0 or as low as possible for only a month and that gets me lean very quickly.Β Β During a lean bulk, I stick with my protein goal but up the carbs to about 125% of my protein intake but adjust based on my energy levels vs. how much I want to bulk. Β Cardio wise I just go on walks every day and do my MMA classes but thatβs really it. Iβm not huge on cardio just cause I donβt like it but the amounts that I do works for me as long as I adjust my nutrition towards the goals I want to hit. I almost always do a mix of heavy vs high volume workouts, 2 weeks on volume, 2 weeks on heavy, but during a more intense cut Iβll only do high volume.Β Β Hope that helps at least a bit! Β 1
coney island Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 I picked up pendlay rows again last night, which I haven't done for about 3 years. They are my favorite back exercise.Β But I feel a pinge in my back today. I am so paranoid and worried that I herniated a disc again. This would be my third herniation if that's the case, and each herniation I have had has made me more and more hesitant to push myself in the gym since they always require surgery and take me out of the gym or at least focusing on anything upper body for 4-8 months at a time. My only successful cut was during COVID when everything was closed. I only ate crockpot chicken noodle soup, but I also got to my absolute leanest as I could. Since then I've been lean bulking, but it's been about 4 years now (with an aforementioned herniated disc happening halfway through) and I'm pushing into uncomfortable body fat percentage and I have been debating on whether it would be worth cutting, but I feel like I am finally back to putting on some size. I am so indecisive about it. I hate cutting. 1

Unfortunately the gym that is usually almost always empty is the furthest away from me and the most crowded at any given time is the one closest.

They come with some serious risks and I personally don't recommend them unless you're really into lifting and have plateaued in progress despite doing everything you're supposed to (working hard at the gym, getting enough rest, counting your macros, etc.)

Kern Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Took my first progress pic (well not first ever but first in my new cycle) Β Comparing to almost 2 months earlier the progress is noticebale but I think I can do better than that in 2 months. I'm more lean but I hope to see more muscle next
