It will be 7 CDs??! :soda:Damn, and it comes with a unique CD holder + unique design on every CD to represent each area of the map? Lemme pre order.

And Amazon currently has a 33% sale on the official art book!

The dedication to the merch :clap3:

The more I play the more I fall in with Clive :WAP: He's like... a ridiculously handsome character. Ugh I can only dream of finding a man like him in real life :cries:

Garuda's Deadly Embrace is SO clutch for pulling off sick combos ugh. Time to settle down for the night with a bottle of rum and play for 8 hours straight. :katie2:

I can't wait to discover more music in this epic.. this is destroying me right now, incredible to battle to. They really made Hollywood blockbusters look a bit like child's play with that very first Eikon battle :jonny5:

Wait wtf did Benedikta

Spoiler

Just got beheaded? That box is extremely small for her body to fit oh my gosh. If only she went with Cid 😭 Her flashback got me emotional, she didn't deserved to be brutalized like that. I'm 10000% that's ******* Barnabas' doing. Can't wait to kill that son of a *****

Been playing for a couple days now.

I like the game so far - and that's good, because I just paid for it and started with no info, I didn't even try the demo. The environments are aesthetically beautiful, the combat is fun and fluid, and I'm enjoying the story, though some of the story beats are predictable. I really, really like some of the characters, like Benedikta. Overall it's one of the best games I've played this year.

That said... I understand why some fans are upset that it has very little in the way of RPG mechanics, and I feel like I would enjoy this game more if we could play as other characters in the party and if there was a robust job system. Most of the classic Final Fantasy elements are present and well-executed, but they're not there in terms of mechanics. Still, it's hard to complain too much when the combat is legitimately fun and engaging in a way few other games achieve. I suppose the biggest issue there is that the enemy mobs that aren't boss-style fights are too easy, and just feel like damage sponges, but major fights have been excellent so far. I see why some fans want old mechanics to be brought back and built upon, and yet I'm having fun with this too.

Ultimately, it's maybe not what I dreamed we'd get, but it passes the threshold of what I thought we would get (based on some of the recent titles) by a lot. It's so refreshing to see Final Fantasy return to a more traditional fantasy setting in a way that celebrates iconic aspects of the series, and it might be one of the best-looking games I've ever seen (I really love the aesthetic of all the ruins). I have high hopes for the series going forward for the first time in a while, and I think this game will end up being a great experience.

I'm way to early in the game to know if this makes any sense and havent been spoiled on literally anything, but a subseries in this world similar to what they did with XIII could be really cool. Maybe a spinoff could even be turn based as a callback to the classics. There's a lot of potential in this setting. I may yet come around to really loving this game.

It’s kinda extreme how there are sometimes parts where you can put the controller down for 40 minutes to listen to characters :rip: I still love it though. It’s just that after zeldas toddler approach to story and characters this needs time to getting used to :jonnycat:

While I’m loving the story, the more mature theme, and the visuals, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed. The hack-and-slash gameplay has gotten a little stale (I’m 40% done according to my PS5 Home Screen). I’ve yet to run into a difficult battle. It’s hard not to blow through every battle since the game kinda holds your hand/doesn’t allow you to customize as much. I miss the complex RPG elements and the standard party system.

It’s a good game, one of the better ones of 2023, but it definitely feels more like a second or third sequel rather than the first entry in a mainline FF game (gameplay-wise). But maybe as I progress past the 50% mark, it will open up and feel a little better.

Level 43 now..

Combat continues to expand and now I'm mixing eikons. Some Eikon's circle skills are way better than others. Prime example: the 3rd eikon you get. The skills do tons of damage but the circle skill is a deathwish :skull: So I replaced them with the 4th eikon but use the 3rds skills.

I take back some of my disappointment. The lead up to getting your third eikon… whew. A slay! And the battles get much more fun after that.

Garuda's Wicked Wheel, then Gouge, then Ifrit's Ignition attack is an OP combo.

Also holding square to ignite the blade then Phoenix shifting to an enemy above you gives you a sick uppercut attack I've never seen before. But you have to hold the square button, keeping the blade ignited, then let go right when you Phoenix Shift.

Reddit is complaining too much for my liking so it’s refreshing to come here and see people praise the game for what it is.

I no-lifed this today and got way further and... well, I wasn't expecting any of that, I've been abusing the screenshot button and photo mode, and I've been knocked right off my feet.

Aesthetically, thematically, story-wise, character-wise - it's literally like they pulled the potential of a Final Fantasy title straight from my dreams. :gaycat6: And I'm probably not even close to half done yet!
