crf13 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I think what's most insulting about the new RHONY is that it feels as if Bravo and Andy Cohen via WWHL/Radio Andy are hellbent on shoving it down our throats and trying to convince us that it's "good" and that we should care. They know that in comparison to the old RHONY, it's complete **** from a monkey's butt. However, Bravo made their mistake and they're refusing to wave a white flag and admit "you were right as viewers. We got it wrong with the reboot," so now, it's this constant passive aggressive attitude of "YOU WILL WATCH IT AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!" surrounding the reboot that just makes the boring-ness of the show even more nauseating. 2

geddymonster Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I actually didn't feel like the RHONY premier was that bad. 1
Chemist Posted October 3 Posted October 3 11 hours ago, Rush said: Not too different from the series low that the RHOSLC premier had a couple of weeks ago I don't mind this reboot at all. Yeah it's very low stakes drama but it gives NY socialite life, which i find fascinating (the older generation was giving geriatric white trash let's be real). And it was the fans who complained to Bravo like crazy and made them reboot RHONY. Let's not rewrite history pls
Million Posted October 3 Posted October 3 The issue with RHONY is that the cast seems inauthentic and none of them know each other, so the whole dynamic is off. 1

ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS CAN Eboni and Leah. This is where it all stems from. Eboni made a claim that she could not proof against Ramona after her debut season was a disaster and Leah wasn't much better. They aimed to bring in a younger audience to can the OGs and that flopped and were afraid of a racially fueled lawsuit at a sensitive time in the nation and so they canned everyone. They could have put the show on pause for a year and then kept Luann, Sonja, Ramona and brought back Dorinda and then added four younger casts that fit the mold. Eboni was not the right fit. Leah was not stable enough. They could have taken a few from the current cast and mixed them with the fab 4: Luann, Sonja, Ramona and Dorinda and one bye one phased on the OGs as they continued to add new girls. Sonja would be the first one to phase out followed by Dorinda and then send Luann and Ramona off Thelma and Louise style after they got up to 6 solid new girls to take over.

I am praying the lack of ratings / viewers smacks some sense into Bravo (since we know all they care about is $) and they either bring back the OG RHONY cast, or at the very least do a mix of old and new crew (Sonja, Dorinda, Luanne, Kelly, Jessel, Brynne [w cast mates who will actually keep her annoyingness / fakeness in check] and maybe Ubah?). However with how much money and promo Bravo seem to be putting into the newbies (new cast photos and tagline shoot even though it's only their second season. They didn't even give SLC or Dubai this) it doesn't seem like they're giving up anytime soon
raven Posted October 3 Posted October 3 There are some issues with the new RHONY but I don't hate it. The scene with Erin trying to produce/control the discussion with her husband was weird, but things are gonna come up on camera and there's no stopping it. These ladies can only self-produce for so long. I feel like something has to happen within the group (real conflict or something adjacent to that) that allows us to see more genuine interactions amongst them and a realer look into their lives and who they are

Album Leak Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Let's be completely real, classic RHONY was hanging on by a thread. Half of the cast during the last seasons were women in their 50s and 60s with CLEAR substance abuse problems, and that could've been fine if not for the fact that there was no one to really hold them accountable for their messy behavior after season 11. With Bethenny, Carole, Heather and to some extent Kristen and (season 5) Aviva gone, the '' somewhat sensible, grounded women who aren't going to take **** from anyone '' side of RHONY was gone. It was an important aspect of balancing the cast, since it let questionable characters like Ramona continue being part of the lineup because she was kind of a punching bag who constantly got called out by the show and its cast. Without a strong opposing force to counteract the messiness, it becomes pretty hard to watch what is basically just messy and/or angry drunk cougars fighting and yelling and looking for men to ****. The new additions post season 11 were terrible choices. Leah was just another drunk, and Eboni was never going to fit in. Pardon my ignorance, but what were they thinking putting a younger WOC into a show that predominantly features older, out of touch problematic rich white women in their 50s and 60s, some who are Republican to boot? She could never become a respected voice of reason even if she was the voice of reason. The new additions absolutely had to be someone from the friend group or same circles that the other cast were in which would then force some respect out of the other women because they are part of the same social circles and they wouldn't want to ruin their status in them. That was also one of the biggest selling points of RHONY overall and which made the cast so dynamic, that many of them had pre-existing relationships with one another or at least ran in the same '' NY high society '' circles. I think they should've just let some older housewives back (especially with Bethenny gone who seemed to want to ice out people she didn't like), and work from there. The thing with RHONY is that very few housewives left the show without making an impact. People still like Aviva, Heather, Carole and Jill, while Alex and Kristen have increased their popularity in recent times despite not being as iconic as the other women. They should've just brought some of those ladies back instead of finding completely new people (which ended in some of the worst, if not THE worst casting for RHONY, which generally has been lauded for choosing great new housewives) and rid the RHONY train to it's conclusion. I don't think even with a strong cast that RHONY would've survived many more years, but it would've been better to go out with a BANG instead of what we got. Edited October 4 by Album Leak 2
boys Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 People are kind of doing the most on RHONY. Yall keep talking about the old cast but they came together for UGT and it made zero noise. Not to mention that the cast that was left got the show revamped in the first place because it was just a bunch of old ******* getting wasted every episode. There was really nothing New York about it which is sad coming from where the show started. We were seeing an actual NYC lifestyle from so many different view points with a variety of women and the show just became about some drunks. If you're tuning into the new RHONY expecting it to be the same as the last group of women you saw on the show thats your issue. It's a new group of women who have to build a history with one another. To me its refreshing to see new dynamics, new money, new fashions. Is it perfect? No but none of the housewives cities are right now.
