Lemon Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Not X/Pearl ( actual horror core and substantial at that too since their depth of characters and situations are even more raw human and pretty frightening ) losing to Hereditary. Ti West has elevated A24’s potential and scope and no other elevated horror movie has known/will know how to bring out both dread and deeper tone. But congratulations to the winner and thanks to the host. And I am glad Eggers has scored higher with The VVitch, since that one is his greatest gift to the horror. Not just eerie atmosphere like The Lighthouse, but actual narrative and characters’ progress through folklore dismay. A24 is not really all that. They just had chance ( and luck ) to be affiliated with people like Ti West, Strickland, Aster in relation to Midsommar ( actually solid piece of elevated thriller right there with so many interesting and fleshed out cult themes and humans’ situation ships and interpersonal relations ), Rose Glass and few others whose visions had been great in the first place. But actually, that #23 is kind of not that bad since my list contained 32 movies. But my biggest plot twist was that everything had been pointing out @genetic fail to continue exhibiting taste ( helping keeping Ex Machina at bay for instance ) and then… Pearl sabotage happened.
lillavend3r Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Guess I'll have to wait for @Reverse Warholian 's baby to do the 90's rate 2
Johnny Cash Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) Was this the artsy fartsy rate? Well, at least a good movie landed on #1 Edit: wait! X above Pearl? Maybe these gays have some taste after all Edited January 25 by Johnny Cash
