This is all true. Obviously racist policies like the 90s Crime Bill did not solve any structural issues, but my point is electorally people are very near-sighted and mainly think about their current life experiences so it makes sense why they would fall for the rhetoric of someone like Caruso who was able to win the messaging war by capitalizing on current feelings of fear over crime and shootings.

Yeah, and to me the GOP would say that "Oh, you can't get those social policies from a small and predominantly white country to work in the US" but that's a racist argument at its heart. People from around the world have the same needs and aspirations. I would vote for Karen Bass in a heartbeat.

A Democrat who would govern as a Bloomberg-style Republican mayor isโ€ฆ not good actually! :clown:

What we're seeing is a harbinger of what's to come. When Republicans take power in 2025, they're going to ban abortion, gay marriage, being transgender/transitioning, drag queens, and anything else they see as a threat to their religion or as "woke". I'm not trying to scare people or anything, but those things are going to happen.

ย

The problem is that people on the left can't decide what's most important to them and subsequently cannot get behind a singular message to push out to Americans. Progressives are cheering on the demise of the Democrat Party despite knowing what that'll mean for LGBT people and people of color, all because Biden won't wipe out the $100k+ debt they choose to take on to get a degree they can't use.ย

ย

You have progressives on one side and alt-right on the other. Both sides are cheering on the demise of the Democrat party, but what progressives don't seem to understand is that they're not going to be spared when Republicans take over, and in fact they will become enemy #1 under another Trump administration. Republicans aren't going to go after the centrist Dems first, they're going to go after the people wanting "socialism". But hey, at least Biden will no longer be in office! /s

Exactly this ??????

I think this is slightly over-estimating Caruso's performance.

If their shares hold once all votes are in:

He spent $150 per vote with $40m.
Karen Bass in comparison spent $12 per vote she got with $3m.ย :skull:

Not someone on here today making a "Is Demi evil?" thread when actual evil like James Clyburn existsย :gaycat6:

Is it apathy? Or is it that theyโ€™re buying into GOP propaganda about lawlessness in liberal cities and rushing into the comfort of tough-on-crime law and order candidates who wonโ€™t actually make crime rates go down, but will be more lenient on their police departments extrajudicially slaying people of color and potentially bringing back chokeholds/stop-and-frisk?

ย

What YOU donโ€™t realize is that we are enemy #1 of both parties, and if the Democrats could get away with imprisoning socialists that they deem politically inconvenient, they would do so. Theyโ€™ve said openly and plainly that we are not needed, and that they donโ€™t want our votes, even though weโ€™re more reliable than the centrist wine moms in the suburbs that they do desperately crave. The fact that Democratic leadership was privately urging Mondaire Jones to primary Bowman, the most Israel-friendly Squad member, should tell you everything you need to know how they feel about us.

ย

Democrats have made their point very clear. A better world is not possible, and we have to accept whatever meager scraps of incrementalism they deem we deserve.

ย

Progressives arenโ€™t โ€œcheeringโ€ the death of the Democratic Party. Weโ€™re lamenting that theyโ€™re absolutely pathetic in every single way, and doing nothing to prevent the demise of their own political viability as the only bulwark for the rights of the marginalized. Get real, stop blaming the left, and see that Biden is actively killing his own partyโ€™s future by being as incompetent and weak as he is.

Well when you say it like thatย :clap3:

ย

I had a whole thing typed out but I canโ€™t bring myself to care enough to finish it. I'm so tired. No Democrat will ever get a vote from me in any capacity again - Iโ€™m not going to take my time and energy to throw some meaningless slip of paper into the burning abyssal void of this countryโ€™s sham of an electoral system.

Ooo, she made points here. Her "unfortunately we live in an oligarchy, not a democracy" perspective is serving Bernie-esque anti-establishment populism, which is good. And she dragged Pelosi for corrupt stock trading and mentioned how she introduced legislation to prohibit Pelosi from doing that.

ย

ย

and ?? at the Hunter Biden nudes that Fox displayed, I mean ... how embarrassing is that - especially when you're more than halfway to 100 years old? And how embarrassing is it to be associated with that family-wise, especially when you're president? Never mind the corruption

ย

"โ€œThere is no doubt in my mind that what Hunter Biden did was wrong, being on the [Ukrainian energy company] Burisma board and engaging in whatever else he dealt with,โ€ Democratic congressional candidate Max Rose said." At least the less delusional Democrats are admitting it

ย

And her line on The Five of "Biden, start thinking about getting things done for the American people" was EXCELLENT.

ย

It's just like what Jordan said. More and more people are starting to realize that just because Biden CONSTANTLY said he's electable because he "gets things done" throughout the primary doesn't mean that he was being accurate. It was a lie.

"Sanders wants an even more sustained focus from Biden, advising him to say โ€œI want to raise the minimum wage, I want to deal with Medicare, I want to deal with housing, I want to deal with climate"" Bernie, honey, Biden is literally a closeted Republican - it's like requesting that of Trump. Their corrupt asses don't want to help people, they want to please their donors!

ย

"Sanders also is leaning on Biden to do as much as he can through executive action on those issues." Biden is allergic to executive action, he'd rather get nothing done.

Biden continued, โ€œI often get asked, โ€˜Look, the Republicans donโ€™t play it square, why do you play it square?โ€™ Well, guess what? If we do the same thing they do, our democracy would literally be in jeopardy. Itโ€™s not a joke.โ€

Um... has he not been paying attention? :rip:

Yeah like...democracy is already dying here. People just won't realize it until it's too late.

I'm watching the ABC special on the Capitol attack and the footage we're seeing has angered me all over again. They're even sharing footage that was never released to the public. And the complete lack of urgency from so many within his administration is JARRING. It's even more frustrating because Trump, or his family, won't face any real consequences for it.
