SoulKiwi Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM Thank GOD, a small glimmer of hope. I really needed this after my dumbass cohabitants of Florida's district 1 chose (unsurprisingly, though I had tiny tiny tiny hope…I should have known better) Patronis 5

In the short term, it seems like a bad reason because it seems like an attack on those they think shouldn't have voting rights... at that might be the reason. But in the long run in will absolutely benefit the Democratic party. Which will be interesting to see the route that the Democratic Party takes on this issue. I mean…. It seems that it would not be beneficial for Democrats to oppose a federal voting Id, if I'm being honest. Not that I personally support voter ID laws because I don't. But, it's just as important for a party to get people to not vote than it is to vote. I wonder if the Democratic Party secretly support this?
CandyCoatedClouds Posted Wednesday at 02:14 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:14 AM Louisiana coming throught and voting against those damn amendments. Pennsylvania flipping a district that hadn't been flipped in over 80 years. Florida district margins being closer than they have been in years. Wisconsin getting it right and voting in Susan Crawford. People are waking up and doing what's right. Resistance is happening. Just on a more subtle level than expected 8
Pikachoo Posted Wednesday at 02:17 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:17 AM this has to be a bot account, right? 1

I think this shows sadly the impact Musk's money had because the last state supreme court judge election was like D+11. I believe state law makes it so only one supreme court judge election can happen a year so there's another election set for 2025 + 2026, but apparently (someone correct me if I'm wrong), it's 2 out of the 3 conservative slots up for re-election. 19 minutes ago, K.O said: Republican support and hard push for a national voter ID strikes me as odd because in theory, wouldn't it help democrats and hurt republicans? I think that Republican's base will be more impacted by the implementation of voter Id laws than the democrat's base. It hurts Dems in states where low-engagement voters are largely black and hurts Republicans where low-engagement voters are largely white. 3

We'll have to see what the final numbers are I guess. Currently, it's D+11.1 with 68% in (but tightening up). This race is also looking to be way higher turnout. About 2.3 million voters vs. 1.8 million in 2023. Nationalizing the race may have made it more split along partisan lines, so in that respect I'm sure Musk's money helped. Hopefully this loss will discourage him from dumping tens of millions into future races, but he does have unlimited money... 3

And you are correct. Next race is 26 and 27 for conservative held seats 2 1

Relampago. Posted Wednesday at 02:52 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:52 AM I felt dread for some reason today, but I ate a sandwich, took a shower and saw this election result and I'm feeling hopeful again! I have faith that Trump is just another Obama situation, where there's a large cult of personality around him but less around the party itself. As the Republicans continue to drive our country into the ground, I hope Democrats can step up to the plate and provide some real leadership instead of resting on the laurels of Republicans' failures to win elections. 2

I remember Biden's approval holding strong for months and it felt like the GOP couldn't make anything stick until the Afghanistan debacle. The economy will likely tank Trump in the end because his regime has put forward NOTHING to make life more affordable for the American people. However, it's going to take time before people realize it. He's being given the benefit of the doubt right now. Exactly. If things keep on the trajectory they are it's kinda inevitable that it happens, but it will take time for people to start feeling it and for the national mood to decisively change. Right in time for the midterms methinks.
rivers Posted Wednesday at 03:10 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:10 AM What a relief!! I still don't understand why Elmo was so invested in this race. Glad he's a LOSER though

Not talking about bipartisanship and hunting down the illegals. Also the fact that he's not an AIPAC shill and is indeed, attractive does make him a contender worth voting for should he run for president and lemme guess, he turns u on lmao 1
