2024 US Election Megathread ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Uhโ€ฆ they have no stars, they're rudderless without any clear leadership, and everyone in the entire country hates their guts because they forced Biden on us and he was an unforgivably bad president.

ย

It's actually pretty simple. Who would even go to a Kamala Harris rally now that her career has been blown to smithereens?

On top of that, I think I'm just gonna start gaslighting MAGAs about how expensive everything has become. I'm gonna pretend like things only became more expensive when Trump took office

I've already started this, just the other day I was mentioning how the price of eggs skyrocketed this week and gas went up 50c in my area to my Trump-voting family.ย

Nextย I'm going to drop a mention about how the coffee was pricier than usual at next week's family brunch whether it's true or notย :suburban:

Not the accelerationists maybe making a few points that Trump would expose the absurdity of America's excesses on policy cause this is...ย :suburban:

I don't necessarily disagree with this, but the fact that JD Vance feels the luxury to say this shows how split the various Christian branches really have become in the Trump era.

The Colombia stuff is kind of absurd. We are truly going to be a secluded country by the end of this term. We're going to make an enemy out of everyone

Looks like he's giving in. I honestly wish he wouldn'tย

These insane tariffs were going to destroy Colombia's economy, so it's understandable. Hoping to see Latin American countries slowly become less dependant of the US as a trading partner

Remember when Democrats thought rebuking the parliamentarian to increase the minimum wage was "too extreme an act"?ย :ahh:

That's the real impact here....the constant threats will force LATAM Countries to look elsewhere for some of their exportsย

I mean, if you're as pessimistic as I am, you probably don't think Democrats have a path to winning anymore for the next two decades at a minimum, so you just kinda have to accept that things are going to be a race to the bottom from now on and have to hope for less bad outcomes.

ย

And the idea I guess is that a hostile takeover of Greenland is less bad than invading Canada and Mexico. America is going to be flexing its imperialist muscles with no realistic challenges to our power as the biggest bully in the world regardless, soโ€ฆ

ย

That's how I'm seeing it anyway. Unfortunately the rest of the world abdicated its responsibility by refusing to sanction us into oblivion over our illegal Middle East wars, so here we are.

Okay, but a takeover of Greenland isn't an alternative to an invasion of Mexico and Canada. If he does it without consequences, it'll probably be a precursor. Bush didn't invade Afghanistan and think "okay, that's enough imperialism for today". He saw he could do it with international support and immediately started planning Iraq. If that hadn't turned into a disaster, he would've gone for Iran too.

ย

Look, I'm not expecting anyone to wipe tears over Denmark of all places, who is basically a colonial holder of Greenland and a full-throated supporter of America's foreign policy and European dependence on NATO. (Macron warned us! He sucks too, but he warned us, and now the Eastern and Nordic Eurodummies who slammed him for it are shocked that the imperialist alliance... is doing imperialism. No refunds, losers!).

ย

Indigenous Greenlanders have a right to be autonomous/independent/whatever-else-they-choose. And this move is not a "ahah, another DRUMPF special!!1!". It's shameless colonialism and an escalation in the Cold War with Russia, which is why some liberals are slowly coming to terms with it.

ย

So seeing a "progressive" treating it as harm reduction is pissing me off because not only is that... not how harm reduction works (:rip::rip::rip:), it's not even an alternative. Does he think Trump and his cabinet of neocon psychos won't nuke Iran if they get Greenland? :snowman:

I don't disagree with you either. On the surface, I think it amounts to Trump normalizing Putin's actions in Ukraine and it shouldn't be done, but he's also playing towards a sense of unquenchable blood thirst and desire to conquer everything and everyone that is inherent in the American psyche. It's the same thing Bush did (the Iraq War was VERY popular and bipartisan at first), and that only went sour when our military might couldn't snap the Arabs in half over our knees like we'd assumed we could. We don't actually value our alliances and we've taken a very dark, isolationist turn over the last decade.

ย

Trying to take Greenland through imperialist means is something the US was always going to end up doing once it was necessitated by climate change opening up northern water ways. Trump doing this now is actually an admission that we never planned on doing anything about climate change (because we don't) and need to take actions that will benefit us and our interests now that will end up hurting everyone else. Because that's what America is to its core. We are an inherently evil country with insatiable greed and lust for unchecked power. Trump is, in many ways, the perfect American president that represents everything that this country and its people truly are.

Let's do a deal - centrists just be quiet for four years and let progressives run their entire agenda for the first time in American history and if it fails, you win!

I love this plan!ย
