Vermillion Posted January 23 Posted January 23 If Murkowski's vote was actually needed, she would've provided it. That's a take I just read and I definitely buy it.

Communion Posted January 24 Posted January 24 6 hours ago, Vermillion said: Though still unlikely, CNN's reporting JD Vance is being dispatched to the Capitol to break a tie for Hegseth. Β The 180's been staggering to witness. Β What internals does his team see that I'm missing here? Β Is he truly gaining enough moderate and center right to make up for progressives that won't vote for him anymore? Β Is this really just all down to Casey's loss? Β Good luck in the primary. There's like 1% of my brain being conspiracy-rotted and wondering if this is a reverse-Sinema long-haul con attempt all down to the presence of his wife. Β Like people obviously fall in love and their views on politics can change to amend how their partner's views change. Β But Giselle Fetterman is like... just as politically active as her husband in the charity sector. She made people in PA fall in love with Fetterman, not the reverse. Β A bleeding heart progressive! Runs charities to give poor people essentials progressive! Spent Fetterman's career pre-stroke all the way talking about how she thinks the government should be big and fix the kinds of issues and suffering she has seen as someone who is a woman, a minority, undocumented, etc. to make it so we don't need these kinds of charities to begin with. Big government! Β Even in his slight shift to the center during the primary for senate, she still spoke as a progressive. It'd be easy to imagine her making peace with those kinds of shifts. And obviously many people can separate work, politics, etc. from love, especially with children involved, but the cartoonish right-wing caricature he's become is even more incongruent with the reality of his wife's own views. Calling for deporting the undocumented while having an up-til-recently undocumented wife who 1) used her story of being undocumented to show you support immigration reform in your senate campaign and 2) calls herself an immigrants rights advocate??? CandyCoatedClouds Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I feel like the democratic party is floundering right now. Like for better or for worse, Republicans (especially Trump) are always out on the trail and campaigning and being seen. What democratic is doing that? Bernie? The man has one foot in thr grave. AOC, she's great but can't get the party to rally behind her. Jasmine Crockett? Also wonderful but people aren't paying ad much attention to her as I'd like them too.Β Β We need a leader who is currently rallying the party and the people and no one is doing that. How can Kamala campaign as being for the people when she went radio silent the moment she lost her election π€Β 3

Even if he wanted him to have 3 terms why would you pull this stunt now?Β Normalization. Talk about it enough and the public will forget why it was such a radical proposal in the first place. I don't think anyone (with more brain activity than a grasshopper, at least) seriously expects Trump to run again at 82, but this lays the groundwork for JD Vance (or whoever), who feasibly could run things for 12-16 years if the 22nd amendment gets scrapped, knowing that people will stop caring after a few months of outrage as per usual. The strength of institutions is several layers of hell below nonexistent.Β Β 1
dman4life Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The straight up audacity of a country of immigrants to be cheering on the end of birth right citizenship. MAGAs truly deserve the absolute worse possible outcomes of this presidency, even though they'll just blame it all on Biden. 1
