Gurl, NO.

ย

I will not let you re-write ATRL history. It went NOTHING like that. I remember it all too well, unfortunately.ย

ย

Also, NO. WTF... it's literally been the exact opposite... what ******* twilight zone are we in right now?!

You can literally go in the thread with Trump cancelling immigration appointments to see liberals cheering at people seeking entry break down and cry because "they deserve" this even when they couldn't possibly vote. The only contempt I see from leftists is against the liberals who still double down on their beliefs even after they've been dogwalked.

ย

And yes, leftists were saying doing a Republican-apologist with a center-right policy tour was a bad idea and wellโ€ฆ it was.ย

ย

You're always so out of touch and live in a totally different reality, sis.

Just off this website alone, it's actually the liberal voters who seem to have the narrative of "well now those poors, Latinos and nasty women are gonna get their comeuppance for letting Trump win! HA!" Meanwhile, leftists are expressing their dismay and sympathies at how this is hurting the communities we wanted to help, but Biden-Harris failed to do so.

America will get what it voted for.

The progressive worldview is built on an inherent empathy that nearly all people are good and deserve to have the government protect and work for them in a functioning society.ย

ย

A liberal worldview is one centered on a false idea of norms and institutions and that those who fall out of those norms and whom don't sacrifice for these norms deserve to suffer even if powerless themselves to make change.ย

Honestly, among all the disasters of the Harris campaign, one of the most egregious ones was actually her stubbornly sticking by Biden while he and his handlers sh*t-talked her and prayed on her downfall.ย

ย

Like stand UP, Kamala!! :hoetenks:ย Such a disaster of a candidate. It's really no wonder people didn't end up taking her seriously. She's a book smart woman and incredibly accomplished but she would make the Top 5 Worst Political Instincts of All Time list atp. :skull:ย

If Biden had stayed in the race, he would have likely lost, but at least not as disgracefully as Kamala, who lost all the swing statesย :giraffe::gaycat2:

He would have lost New Jersey and Virginia.ย :rip:

That whole "good billionaires" line from one of the only two halfway-decent DNC chair candidates is dismaying and should be disqualifying. But of course I'm the problem for using the b word :ahh:ย

I'm not even approaching this from a left v. right angle.ย

ย

This is basically my whole point. In 2016, there was still economic strain, but since 2020 its worsened so much. Much of what I was hearing in 2016 was definitely based in a culture war on LGBTQ, BIPOC, etc. while in 2024, a lot of that conversation has faded and most people are just desperate to increase their quality of life again.ย

ย

I know Trump won't help them, so I'm interested to see where their minds go once the right wing approach fails again. I'm not saying Trump should be treated as an ally or a normal leader, just that I find the political landscape is slowly switching from left v. right to up v. down. At least, I hope.

ย

ย

It doesn't have to be a left or right angle, but if the trump supporters you know aren't talking about moving away from capitalism then I'm not really sure what we actually have in common

One big thing I hope democrats learn from this is the importance of optics. Even if they were getting things done, most people didn't know about it. Biden was an absent president and it often felt like we had no one leading the country. That's what happens when you force a weak, ailing candidate on everyone who needs several naps throughout the day.

ย

Contrast that with Trump, who was on the news all day yesterday talking with the media as he was signing executive orders, describing in plain terms for the American people what those orders were for and what they were doing. It already LOOKS to many average people like he's getting more done than Biden ever did.ย

I agree with this but anyone who sees Trump signing orders for the U.S to exist the WHO and thinks it's the good kind of 'getting things done' is delusional given the fact that we are only a couple years out from a pandemic that killed over a million people in this Country aloneย

So I wasn't on this forum after Hillary's loss....at what point do we stop pointing fingers and litigating what went wrong and start actually mounting a real opposition to Trump/the Republicans? It's clear they plan on moving fast and furious with their terrible agenda for the next 4 years and I feel like we're stuck just fighting about what went wrong during the election and what could have been....

I agree, but you have to remember that many of supporters support this change because they believe what he says about it being wasteful spending, etc, so to them, it appears that he's keeping his campaign promises.ย

It never felt like we were getting the same treatment from the Biden administration.ย

There's not really anything to be done until midterms. And honestly, I'm not expecting a blue wave like we were last time. The Libs have completely checked out and gone to brunch

There will be no true opposition to Trump or his party until the Democratic party offers real change outside of "but Trump". But they wont.

A reminder that when Trump tried this last time on already active trans troops, he lost four successive court battle battles over it and they were allowed to keep serving. I don't know what's gonna happen here, who knows. There's about 8,000 apparently.
