Marianah Adkins Posted January 18 Posted January 18 It is not an understatement to say that the Democrats really lost their way by forgetting what they really are as a party. Historically, the Democrats have always been the giver party- be it patronage in the 19th century, economic redistribution policies in the early to mid 20th century to social welfare policies in the late 20th century and beyond. The Republicans on the other hand have always been the watchdog party- always having a rage against government intrusion, public spending, taxes, to protect private rights of citizens and entities (aka corps). It was a mistake of the Democrats in recent years to believe that their material redistributionist legacy can be completely traded in for cultural or symbolic representation, for the sake of protecting the capital interests in their side. Not only did it hollow out the party but it gave the other side tons of ammunition to pick on the Democrats sagging coalition. Now that we are in the midst of another Trump presidency, I hope the Democrats take the time to TRULY reflect on what they are as a party. It is time to take charge, not to react. And the time is now. 6 2

What an abysmal nothingburger of a presidency. What an absolutely atrocious waste of time the last four years have been. Disgraceful. Your MAGA-level obsession with Biden gives me "stop the count" vibes, and I'd be shocked if you still aren't rambling about him in 4 more years (or at least until this server finally bites the dust). It's actually worrisome how much hatred you have and how you just can't move on. 1 1

The problem is turnout is not good with Black voters right now, the Democratic base is apathetic But Ossoff should do better with the Black vote margin wise than Kamala

Gaia Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Oh the CEO of TikTok thanking Trump for at least trying to work with him. It's gonna be bad for the Dems if TRUMP of all people gets an app with 170M American users unbanned. I fear that will be the best possible win for Trump with Gen Z unless that unbanning is selling to Zuck or Musk. 1

He doesn't have that luxury this time, and Kemp is also an extremely popular governor. Ossoff's main hope of having even the slightest chance of staying in office comes from Kemp pulling a Sununu and not running, leaving the nomination open for Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, or Marjorie Taylor Greene to run for it. And even then, I'm not convinced he'd win. 1

Im surprised it even went to the Supreme Court because it's such a non-question. The opinion itself reads like a con law 1 hypo. Edited January 18 by MAKSIM 2

Phone addiction is real, but it's not fair to single out one app causing it. And Tiktok's not getting banned because of that. If the app really has 170 million users, tomorrow could be chaotic with people trying to find an alternative app. 1
